Basically, you need 2 things, a DVD burner and a software program that burns DVD. If you already have a DVD burner then all you need is a program. However, not all burning software programs are the same. Do you want to burn data files to a DVD or do you want to burn video files to a DVD? This is very important because they are very different. Second, do you want a free program or are you willing to spend a little cash.

1. Free data file burning software, try Final Burner (http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/FinalBurner_FREE/1159970809/1)

2. Free video file burning software, try Deep Burner (http://www.filehippo.com/download_deepburner/)

3. Commercial burning software, try Nero 7 or Roxio Media Creator.

Without knowing what program you will be using, i can't give you step by step instructions. The basic steps are:

1. Copy files you want to burn on to your hard drive.
2. Insert blank DVD in to DVD drive.
3. Open burning software program.
4. Choose file(s) to burn.

you need dvd burner software. it should have come with your pc when you bought it (if new, or from a store and used) or the dvd burner when you bought it for installation/upgrade from cdrom. since you say you have no software, i suggest you look in any of the disks that came with the pc. if you are unable to locate it, you can get some online by going to the dvd manufacturer's website and checking for it there. there are some free burner programs out on the web, but i don't know where you would look other than going to the manufacturer site. you can try a google search for some free programs on the web, such as dvd burner/software/free.

usually if your computer has a dvd/cd-rw drive..you would naturally already have a program. But that aside, the file needs to be converted to a dvd format. Just google whatever file extension it is to dvd converter.

my computer has NTI CD and DVD creator or whatever...but whatever program you use, just look at the help file...it should have some guides.

you should have a program such as nero or ez dvd/cd creator. look in your programs for one. the step by step would be difficult to say with out knowing what program you are going to use.
