You know, I have answered this question as best as I know how. You seem to be searching for an answer God has already given you. Your heart is open and seeking. One that has committed an unforgivable sin cannot have a heart like yours. God really does love you and you are forgiven if you asked. If you haven't asked do so now. He loves you more than you can know and even though you will still "feel" unforgiven, you really are forgiven. We serve an awesome God.

The only unforgivable sin is blasphemy against the holy spirit. That means not allowing the holy spirit to speak through you when that time comes at the end of the world. The Bible says to take no thought beforehand what you shall say because the Holy Spirit will teach you in that hour what you shall say. The reason it is unforgivable is because there is no time left to be forgiven. Jesus is about to return. Many may disagree with me but this is how it was explained to me and its the only way it makes sense to me.

Enlightened means to "know that you are Lost and need Saving".
Then, while you are in that state, IF you ask Jesus to Save you, you become Born-Again (Saved) or "Tasted of the Heavenly Gift".

Now, there are Three more things you have to do befor you can even begin to commit the UNPARDONABLE SIN.
Read Hebrews Chapter 6 verse 4 and on.

The Rule of Thumb is that if you Think you have comitted the UNPARDONABLE SIN then YOU HAVE NOT COMMITTED IT.

People who commit this sin don't care a thing about going to Heaven after they commit it.
It takes a long time to commit the Unpardonable Sin---this sin is NOT drinking, fornication, murder, being gay, cussing, cursing, so on so on.
Hope this helps.
Ditto.

Isn't it a good thing to be aware of the issue?

I am curious, too, but have put difficult questions on hold while getting on with issues taught in the Bible that are clear.

In Christianity there is only one unforgivable sin, and that is blasphemy. If you absolutely deny Christ, that is blasphemy, and there is no forgiveness for you. Anything else has been covered by the blood of Christ.

Religion is unenlightened. Sin is an outdated concept. When you die, you're just dead.

What you call backsliding is just breaking away from superstitious belief.
