okay 14 days ago I sprained my ankle and it is still swollen slightly, and bruised and it hurts to move it up doen and around. the thing is it also hurts to walk on it and it pops when I do. It also hurts to stand on it for like more than 5 minutes. The thing is everyone knows I sprained my ankle but It doesnt seem to be getting any better. I stoppped wearing my brace because it stopped hurting. The other thing is sience I have gone like 2 weeks w/out using cructhes wouldnt it be kind-of weird for me to show uop with them to school one day. I mean two week is kind of a long time to still have pain for a simple sprain I think. What should I do.

Actually a sprain or pull is worse than a break in many ways. It can hurt more and sometimes it takes a lot longer to heal. Sometimes sprained ankles can take as long as 2 months to heal.

Go back on crutches & brace until it doesn't for at least a week, then stop using them.

If someone asks whats up? Tell them it wasn't fully healed and you landed on it funny coming down the stairs. You could even turn it into a joke and everyone can get a good laugh out of your being accident prone. They will be laughing with you and it might help your rep!

Sprains sometimes take longer to heal than breaks/fractures. I am not even kidding you. If you keep walking on it and it feels worse then you can hurt it even more. If you think about it, what is better? Feeling it for years or having a few people ask the simple question of, "how come you are back on crutches? I thought you were feeling better?!"
If I were you and my foot hurt still I would put the brace back on and stay off it like you know you should. I was a gymnast and I broke my foot 3 times in 2 years. One time I told the doctor I was fine and ended up breaking it again later on.

If you want you can put an air cast on it, you can purchase it in a surgical supply store. also wearing crutches might not be a bad idea, it will enable the area to heal properly by not having any stress on it. if any one asks you why now, say that you re-injured it even worse and your doctor made you use your crutches because the sprain is more serious this time. the popping sound is concerning however, maybe you should go in for some xrays of your ankle, you could have really injured the ligaments located there.

Hi! Sorry about your injury! When I have gone on plane trips with crutches, I bought a whole row of seats (3 seats per row.). I was with 1 other person, so, I propped my leg up in the extra seat. I put extra padding on the arm-pit part (? what its called). And I bought a little pouch that hooks on the crutches so you can put stuff in it. You might want to invest on something like that. (links in the sources!) As for storing them while on the plane, I actually put them through baggage because, I could walk short distances with my sprained ankle. I was with my boyfriend, so, He said that when we got off, I could wait right outside the plane, while he got a wheelchair for me so we could go to baggage claim. Or, if your airport doesn't have wheelchairs, you could always just have help! Or, on the plane, keep the crutches on the ground (at the lowest height level so the won't be in the isle) and wait to be last to get off the plane! I really hope I helped!

well if your in pain and feel you need the crutches then use them . put the brace back on return to the way it was in the beginning and this time no cheating . don't put weight on it at all for a week see the doctor about it again . a sprain can take just as long or longer to heal then a fracture.

ok, first of all our body has it's own defenses to get fixed itself but we have to help him a little bit, by getting rest or in this case using crutches or walker or whatever it maybe to get cure by himself. Second of all every system is different so for the same reason it could react in a different way when to someone may take a few weeks for some other may take a month. So, don't be inpatient give it a little more time and it will get better sooner than you think.

Talk to your doctor and he may be able to recommend a special type of wrap, hopefully involving an herbal topical that can asist in the pain without having to wear the brace. And hey, if you have to wear a brace again, just say you twisted it or something. The important thing will be to get it back to normal condition so it doesn't haunt you your entire life.

you should wear the brace at least. chances are, that if it still hurts after 2 weeks, then it's a really bad sprain. so the best bet would be to wear the brace and elevate you're ankle whenever you can.

You need to get it x-rayed. Two years ago I thought I sprained my ankle. Because I continued to walk on it (it was broken), I messed it up worse and had to have surgery to put a steel plate in. Get it checked out, if you don't you could have problems for a very long time.
