You can't replace a water pump seal, only the complete water pump assembly. They are pretty pricey and not for a beginner to try to replace as there is a lot to take apart on the front of the motor to be able to replace this. I would say you'd be looking at around 4-5 hundred at a shop.

If in fact that this is the part that needs to be replaced, it is pretty serious... Take it to more than one mechanic and don't tell them that you think it is the water pump seal or that another mechanic told you that is what needs to be replaced. If the seal does need to replaced, do yourself a favor and do it ASAP! If you don't do it soon, you are looking at overheating (usually when the engine is already hot and starts to cool itself down, which is usually after you have been driving for a while) so you don't want to get stuck in the middle of nowhere because of it. Its a quick fix, no more than 2 days usually in a shop, but it is a good idea to get it done quickly...

when a water pump seal starts to leak the only thing you can do is buy a new water pump unless your skilled at rebuilding one. if you don't replace it your car will sooner or later over heat and that can cause a host of other more expensive problems.

you have to replace the whole water pump on this one, those water pumps are not serviceable ,when they leak you replace the whole thing ,i think the pumps on those are pretty expensive, and labor will run around 75 bucks or more, probably around 200 at the least on replacing that one, goof luck.

well if you can see it dripping, it is pretty important. for sure it wont get better. if you have timing belt, not chain, then they will replace that, water pump, and drive belts for up to $400.
