that my nephews killer is now serving 20 years for drugs even if he managed to get a "No Bill" in self defense for my nephews death? I do not hate him but part of me feels relieved that he can harm no other young men. My nephew was only 20 years old.

My nephew was killed nearly 2 years ago but the man who took his life was just sentenced to 20 years. I just found out today.

It is not wrong at all Debra...God uses Kings, rulers and earthly justice systems as one means of executing "his Justice". As you have stated,it would only be wrong for you to harbor unforgiveness and bitterness towards him...I am speaking boldly in love...( I certainly commend you and thank God for his Grace on your life,to be able to endure such a trial of faith and dependence on God).

Whether or not it is wrong, I am not sure. But it's totally normal and understandable! You are probably not delighting in his suffering, but you simply want him to be kept away from society so that he cannot hurt anyone else, like he did to your nephew. So you are relieved and there is certainly nothing wrong with that at all. In fact, I'm relieved too, and I don't even know the guy.

He obviously has major problems, and issues he needs to work out in his life, to say the least. I think that jail will be as good a place as any for him to work on those things.

I think we should want that others become the best people they can be. We should want them to improve themselves, and not commit wrong things any more, both for themselves and for others.

I hope this guy will make a serious change in his life.

I'm sorry about what happened to your nephew. :-(

No. You have forgiven him. The man deserves punishment under man's law, which we are to obey. And this lines up with the OT. I wouldn't want the guy out to possibly do the same thing or worse. And there were prisons in the time of Christ. I believe You are satisfied that the sin is being punished. ( don't take it the wrong way... hate the sin, love the sinner). All are accountable for their actions.

please do not feel guilty. You have a right to be pleased; relieved and happy. you have a right to those feelings even if that scum sat in the electric chair. I understand what is expected of you as a Christian but you are not Jesus, you are human. Jesus never really told what should be done with really evil people or really bad sinners, like murderers. One was next to him on the cross but he ignored him, and when the thief repremanded the murderer for asking Jesus to save him, Jesus remained silent. Therefore does that mean that really bad sinners like murderers deserve what they get? We have to do something with them. Turning the other cheek and telling them to sin no more won't change them. Also it doesn't answer for the life they took. Be pleased. It is normal and justified.

Everyone comes to The lord by their own path, and we each seek to serve him in our own way, and we each celebrate that sacred trust and faith with our God according to our own needs, abilities, spirituality, strength of character, and depth of our commintment, and love of Jesus.

And so it is that some of the faithful are more fervent practitoners that others, some are more ardent in their public displays of dedication to Christian values and the Tennats of the Holy Bible, and others are more circumspect , less ostentatious in their communion with their God.Some pray in the closet with humility, while others shout their faith from the roof tops.

Orgaized religion blasts it's message thru the media from Crystal palaces in slick productions, and mass Healings tied into weekly pledge drives. One congregation is convinced that only 750,000 of the faithful will ascend unto heaven on judgement day, and yet their membership numbers in the millions.

Charismatic Ministers Call on their Ministries for more donations for New Jets, Larger Studios, Bigger campuses. Many of these Men ARE great Leaders, others are not.

But somehwere along the line, I think we sometimes eqate being a Christian with giving up our humanity, our everyday self, the day-to-day person that raises children, has arguements with their spouse on occasion, makes mistakes, laughs when someone slips on the ice and lands on their rear end, like to play bingo, has told a few white lies in her time to spare a loved ones feelings, has been angry at someone who has harmed her children.

And now is our religion making us politically correct as well? I undestand that there is nobility in forgivenss, and that isome consider it "God-like to turn the other cheek", and to that I say "NO".

I adore my Nephews, and dote on them as if they were my own children. I hope and pray that I NEVER know the pain of what you are going thru with the loss of your murdered nephew. But I promise you this - I would hate the man who killed my nephew, and hope that he would burn in the eternal fires of hell - to my way of thinking - anything less would be an insult to my dead nephew.. I think that I would have that right - according to the bible. Perhaps after a long time , my hatered would lessen, but I do not think I could forgive him - that is for God to do, I am not enough of hypocrite to attempt that.. (That does not mean to say that I think you are).

I think everyone whether Christian, non Christian, Muslim, Hindu or whatever would say you have every right to be pleased.

I can't believe you don't hate your nephews killer - you must be a very forgiving person.

What goes around comes around - he totally deserves that and more.

You aren't wrong. You are a beautiful person trying to be the best Christian possible and find good in an impossibly sad situation. You aren't please because of another's misfortune, but because of the way the world has been made safer for others. God gave you the ability to find inward relief and peace - enjoy it!

My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I don't think it is wrong for you to be pleased that someone who poses a safety threat to the community is locked away.

Nor is it wrong to feel bad that someone who took the life of someone is being punished according to the law of the land you live in.

I think it would be wrong for you to hope he gets bashed in jail or to hope his life is worse off for it. But if you do, you're only human and God knows we are not perfect.

No, Although faith teaches that God will judge in the end, he also understands that we have human emotion. Not to mention a murderer is a sinner. Sins although punished in the after life, also need to be punished here. We aren't expected to let them roam free, on that note, There is no reason to feel bad.

I do not think it is wrong at all. It's a terrible thing to loose a loved one, and those who do the killing deserve to pay for it in jail.

It is not a bad thing to hope this person does not hurt anyone else.
I'm sorry for your lose.
