Where oh where do people get the idea that evolution claims a cat will give birth to a dog etc?

I really am astounded by the ignorance, the last question I asked some people responded by saying such things as.. Talk to me when you see a cat have a litter of puppies and can document it with video tape. Show me a man coming out of the vagina of a chimp and we can talk further about your views. I can't see yellow parrots and blue parrots begotting field mice. OR.. If man came from a monkey...why ARE MONKEYS STILL HERE? Wouldn't they all turn to men. Show me a species that is evolving now. Bears are still having bears...lions still having lions.
No wonder they dont accept evolution they dont even know what it is.. of course a cat isnt going to give birth to puppies.. thats just an ignorant statement all around that shows a complete LACK of any knowledge of evolutionary biology whatsoever. SO I want to know where do u ppl get these ideas? it certainly isnt from science as it has NEVER claimed or stated that one species will spontaneously give birth to a totally different species.

The concept put simply is this.. take a population of cats all the same species, split it in half and put one group on a desert island, another on a rainforest island... wait a really long time, in just a few decades you will start to see a trend of adaptation, within several thousand years they will have diverged considerably, wait tens of thousands of years and they will have diverged even more, wait a few hundred thousand years and they will have changed even more, wait a few million years and they might just not be the same species anymore and incapable of reproducing with one another as they did in the past. The environment, sexual selection, natural selection and myriad other factors of life will dictate the small but accumulative changes in each population until they have diverged beyond a subspecies, into a completely new species.

Refute??? what is there to refute, its idiocy plain and simple.. there has to be an intelligent debate to offer a rebuttal.. those statements are not even logical, let alone based on anything other than ignorance.

See even most of the answers to this question are soaked in ignorance too.. not one person has made a counter statement that is not based on their own ignorance.. not one!!

It's called a strawman argument.

It's when you can't refute the argument of an opponent, so you invent an argument that is easily refuted and ascribe it to your opponent.

best example I can think of: Many creationist rebuttals of evolution point out the implausibility that a series of random genetic accidents could result in a modern species. Which sounds very reasonable--except that not a single proponent of evolution has ever claimed that evolution is random or based entirely on accidents.

Evolution is the change from one specie to another-always has been. Whales came from cows and birds came from dinosaurs (the lizard type). Thats what you mean when you say 'evolution'.

Now, when you say speciation you mean a finch develops with a short beak, while another one has a long beak for what ever reason. This is not evolution but adaptation to the environment.

This has been the argument all along. One specie does not ever evolve into another one. Evolutionist claim this to be a fact, but the only evidence they can scratch up is adaptation-and they call it evolution with a "micro" prefix.

Eventually evolutionist will catch up to themselves. Why???? Because evolution is constantly evolving. It now does not mean the same thing it meant 25 years ago, and then it did not mean the same thing it meant 100 years before.

This is silly.

That does sound insane. We all know the only way to do any interspecies breeding it has to be done by men/breeders, and it has to do two animals that are of a similar species such as a mule that mixed with a donkey and a horse. Or the whalphin (whale/dolphin) hybrid that scientists have done recently.

Knowing that science teaches that evolution took millions and millions of years to develop the spectrum of life that has filled the world I am stunned that any one with a scientific mind could except it as fact. According to science there was a mass extension event that closed the juristic era. After that event science believes that only small primitive mammals survived. These small creatures in a few hundred thousand years became the giants if the Ice Age... Nope goes against science.. Come on all you scientific thinkers come up with a better answer to the origin of the species than this non-sense... Jim

Well, first of all I would not want to let those cats breed indiscriminately, given the HUGE Pet overpopulation problem in this world and the suffering that these poor animals go thru becuz they were not spayed or neutered.

And secondly - the ideas you are quoting sound like they literally came straight from the middle Ages, where people believed in the fantastic and supernatural.

Because they have their heads so far up their butts that they expect that since they can give birth of their own heads that the rest of the world should be equally screwed up. Ignorance is not science, nor is it religion! And then when their children get older and discover that what they have been taught is a lie, they will either give up all religion or change over to the ones that embrace love and understanding.

Theists turn each and everything right into a spiritual debate, because of the fact to them, there is no longer something, this is all lined of their respective e book. They want to know about a species that is evolving now? There are species of birds that were not around two hundred, or even a hundred years ago. What do they say about that?

Why we say what we say is that if everything is evolving, survival of the fittest then why are we not the only thing left. Why are they still monkeys around if we evolved from them. Why are they still fish in the water if that is where all life came from. why is there not just one species. This is why I don't believe in evolution, to many unanswered questions. It takes more faith to believe in evolution than it does to believe that God made the earth and ever thing in it.
