I believe Cain killed Abel because of jealousy. I don't know of a story where an Abel killed a Cain.

The real question I've always wondered in that story is why was God such a jerk?

#1 Why was he so clear to point out how much better he liked Abel's offering? There was no suggestion that Cain made less of an effort, but God just blew him off.

#2 Since God made it so clear that he preferred his sacrifices to be freshly killed animals, I've always thought that Cain might have just decided to sacrifice his most favorite flesh, his brother.

#3 God had never given a single hint that killing was wrong, yet suddenly this retroactive rule comes into play, and Cain is facing more of a punishment than his parents did for their original sin.

Oh, well. I guess he ended up better than David in the lion's den.

Cain killed Abel.

Supposedly, it was because of two things. Abel cared about his job and it showed while Cain did not, and Abels gift to God was alive and thus worth more as a sacrifice, especially since it was the best of the lot, unlike Cains.

Secondly, Abel's twin sister Luluwa was promised to Abel in marriage and Cain was upset because he thought Abel should marry his twin sister who was less beautiful, so Cain slew Abel and married Luluwa.

Cain killed Abel. Because Cain had "issues". Abel was an easy target. Actually, the only target.

I assume by now you have learned that Abel didn't kill Cain, Cain killed Abel. And it was out of jealousy.

Cain killed Abel. He was jealous because God approved of Abel's offering, but did not approve of Cain's offering because Abel's offering was of the best of his flock and Cain's offering was not from the best of his crops.
