I'm bored and I need some "me" time!!!!?

Currently, I am living with my boyfriend and his two children. I cook, clean, and participate in family functions regularly... but I miss hanging out with my friends and co-workers. My boyfriend gets offended when I suggest going to a birthday party... cook out.... without him and the kids. He even gets upset when I do not come straight home from work to take care of him and the kids... and I feel that it is unfair. I feel that I am lossing myself and I am starting to resent him for it.I told him recently that I was applying for an assistant principal job and he responded by saying," All you need to do is teach!!!" Am I over-reacting???

I personally think that your boyfriend is treating you very unfairly. He shouldn't get mad at you for wanting to go have some alone time or not coming straight home to care for him and his kids. I don't want to be rude, but that is ridiculous and he should be grown enough to be able to take care of himself and his kids w/o you there for awhile. If I were you, I'd talk to him and explain how you feel. Tell him how you think you are losing yourself and feel as if you are being treated unfairly because he will not allow you to have some time to yourself. If he really cares about you then he will say, "OK, you have a point. I'm sorry and I understand how you feel sometimes." See, I think your boyfriend should be supporting you more but instead it seems as if he's being selfish. In my opinion if things don't change soon, find an apartment or see if you can move in with a friend or family member and leave him. You shouldn't deprive yourself of getting "me" time and some more respect. Your boyfriend shouldn't try to control your life, you are your own person!
