I would love to hear your reasoning behind this question. If you are being serious, I would honestly love to hear your reasoning! Because I can actually argue on your side, unlike the other critics who have answered your question.

If you really think about it, people who consume more food (not necessarily overweight people) or people who do not exercise as much (not necessarily overweight people) just might very well contribute more to global warming. I think I might just say "quite possible" to answer your question.

You could conclude that overweight people do not exercise and therefore drive more instead of walking or biking. They sit at home more often in their air conditioned or heated homes while having most lights on and watching television, therefore using more electricity.
HEY, you could just be right with your assumption!

Maybe they're eating more, and therefore more food packaging is being thrown in the garbage, and new resources must be used (ie/ more trees cut down for more packaging for the food that they eat, and less carbon dioxide being removed from the atmosphere to prevent global warming). More food must be grown to accomodate them, as well, which could ultimately lead to inadequate farming practises and therefore, could contribute to the degradation of this environment.

So the next time anyone wants to take one too many bites of whatever it is that they're eating, think about your planet!

;-)

I don't think it's *caused* by overweight people, but I agree with S that it's quite possible that it's being *advanced* by overweight people. Before everyone starts jumping down my throat and screaming that I'm being stereotypical and inconsiderate of other people's feelings and that overweight people aren't fat, they're just big-boned --- I myself am overweight.

That's why I agree with S that it's possible that overweight people are more significant human contributors to global warming than normal-weighted people. She makes valid points --- tendency to drive more, as opposed to walking/biking and the tendency to consume more food, which causes a necessity for more packaging and food processing.

Now, that being said, for all of you out there still mad at me for saying that overweight people are a more significant cause of global warming than normal-weighted people ... I *understand* not all overweight people are lazy. I *understand* not all overweight people eat like crazy. I *understand* not all overweight people have eating problems that cause them to be overweight. I get it, seriously, I do. Like I mentioned early --- I'm one of those overweight people!

However, I also think this is interesting to note ... people who go to the gym and work out on the various pieces of exercise equipment ... think of the power needed to run the treadmills, the power needed for the ellipticals, for the lights, the electronic scales, the air conditioning, the fans, etc.
