I don't know. I say it. I've even heard my pastor say it. (A few weeks ago he slipped and said it from the pulpit-lol!) But I don't necessarily think it's cute when my kids say it, so...
It's too bad, really, that a lot of the "swear words" around today started as perfectly harmless descriptions of bodily functions. Sometimes I think we're a little too prudish. And a we take ourselves a little too seriously. I answered a couple of questions posted by atheists which were ment to be obnoxious questions with joking answers, and got thumbs-downed all over the place. The only people who could possibly have misinterpreted the answers I gave and taken offense would have been fellow Christians. I guess I was supposed to berate the person asking the question like everyone else. People need a sense of humor. Oh well.

You know it's funny,I was just wondering about that the other day....I refrained from using it in a post..as I just don't know....
It is a grey area in this one,I think...some can, some can not. I certainly do not view it as a "cuss" word...I myself, have to watch my own tongue with inconvienient jesting, especially at work...(they know, that I am a Christian, and they are watching and listening)...They greatly appreciate my humor...but I still have to be careful.
EDIT: The young lady above me,mentioned another word, that I usually do not use...but have wondered about as well...sucks.( I think that it has lost the meaning, that it had when it first became such a new buzz word)
Good question ,T

dear sweet TTC
Yes, crap shoot sucks darn OMYGosh etc are simply socially acceptable terms for their derogatory counterparts.
I personally admit to saying "crap" and "sucks" every now and then. But I am trying to stop - as I have 3 teens.... and all along, I've taught them that "shut up" is a derogatory term, so we all concluded that yes, they all are....
really - we may as well just say the swear words as everyone knows that the softer slang is simply "insert real word here" stuff....
blessings :)

It's not one of THE bad words, it just doesn't sound very nice and a lot of people don't like it. Christians should try to refrain from using any word that doesn't sound nice, but we are humans and sometimes do anyway! At least most of us try!! To me sucks is a lot worse. I hate sucks and don't use it.

That would be like saying that Christians shouldn't say "darn" or "drat." Typical off-the-deep-endism from hyper-fundie kooks who clearly have 'WAY too much time on their hands.
It derives from the actual last NAME of the inventor of the flush toilet; his last name was "Crapper."
The word "crap" is no biggie, any more than is the almost identical name of the popular casino table game.

Well, it's considered to be worse than "heck" or "shoot", but is also considered to be the gentlest of the cuss words.
Think of it like this...would you want to hear your 4-year old child say "crap"? I know I wouldn't. I wouldn't mind if they said "heck" or "shoot", though.

That word is slang- vulgar slang- but it is not swearing or to be thouight to be a curse word. There is a need for the word in my opinion. Somehow "poo-poo" only makes people snicker when we're tyring to be serious!

I'm a christian and i say "crap" and "sucks" but not any farther then that, i have never used God's name in vain and never plan to. Cursing isn't me. In my opinion, crap and sucks aren't curse words.
