How do you know that one of the oldest Christian churches, one that vastly pre-dates the Protestant Reformation and has historically been intensely devoted to Christ, is Christian? Well, maybe the church's rich Christian liturgy, art, prayers, and music will provide a clue.

Because it is THE original Christian church. It is the church that Paul and the apostles established in the book of Acts. It is that church, and it has remained essentially unchanged for 2,000 years. Check out this timeline of Christianity:

The Orthodox Churches are faithful to the Nicene Creed and to the Bible as interpreted according to theTradition of the 7 Councils. If the Protestant Churches are Christian ,it is because of the heritage they got from the Catholic and Orthodox Churches.

The general doctrine of this organization follows the Biblical teachings of who God is, what Jesus did in His mortal ministry, and how a person receives salvation. Those facts make the Orthodox church, the Catholic church, most of the churches of the reformation, as will as most of the non denominational churches Christian.. That excluded the cults that see Jesus as anything other than God in human flesh.. Jim

Both the Orthodox Church and the Catholic Church have valid apostolic succession. Both have valid Eucharists. While the Orthodox Church does have canonical issues regarding jurisdiction and calendars, they certainly are Christian.

To be a Christian you have to believe Jesus Christ is the Messiah and accept Him as your savior.
Every Church has to believe this in order to be considered Christian.
