After reading about the Atlanta man with TB traveling abroad and returning with a passport scan that said to detain him and call health officials... I thought... What exactly is seen when our passports are scanned??????????

The passport didn't tell them to stop him, just who he was. The computer kicked up the info when told who he was from the passport.

The passport just tells them who you are and where you are from. It's a positive form of ID, one they can count on to know who you are. Of course that doesn't stop some fool from letting you in when he/she shouldn't.

name, date of birth, place of birth and gender along with the identifying number
