Actually, you may not be able to talk to them, but you can most certainly forgive them, and should.

In my own life, I was denied by my father before I was born. When I was an adult, I went looking for him. He was already dead, but I found a whole bunch of family I'd never met before. To receive healing from the circumstance he had caused in my life, God showed me that I needed to forgive my father. Once I did, so much anger and hurt were gone. I was able to move past those circumstances and learn just who the man was.

You can definitely forgive anyone you want. You finding forgiveness for a hurt has everything to do with you and your own feelings and decisions. It does not depend at all on the actions of the person that you are forgiving, therefore, it does not matter if the person is alive or dead. I'd definitely encourage letting the hate go...it just eats you alive otherwise. Good luck!

Forgive that person they were wrong. God tells us to forgive all who have sinned against us. True, it is best done while they are alive, but I found no scripture against forgiving the dead.

It does nothing for the dead and everything for you. You do need to let go of all the hurt and pain. In this manner you will be healed and forgiven. The person that is wronged you is beyond forgiveness as their fate is sealed for good or ill.

I am not sure if I made myself clear or not. Write me if I muddied more than illuminated.

Forgiving someone, even that is alive, is for your benefit. So you can live without bitterness and resentment towards the person that hurt you.
Through God you can ask Him to help you forgive other people and the sins they did to you. With a person that is dead, it becomes something between you and God, not the person that hurt you.

Yes, we can forgive the dead. And we must, if we hope to make progress in our lives. My father was an abusive alcoholic and beat me terribly. He killed my pet dog in front of me when I was a kid. He killed himself when I was a teenager, which left me orphaned and homeless. But I decided that I don't want to walk around carrying negative emotions about him for the rest of my life. It has been a hard emotional journey, but I know that forgiveness is the only answer. God has forgiven me, which set the example for me to forgive my father.

Ask the Lord to show how to forgive this person. Pray about it and began to read the Bible. Read the book of John. You will see God's true nature, and how He forgave us. Then you ask Him to help you forgive that person in your heart. I don't know if he/she can hear you or not, but God can, and that's what really counts. I will pray for you too.

God Bless

You just can't believe everything people tell you. I have alot of people who has passed on and I needed to forgive them, and of course it was to late. But I have forgiven them and God has forgiven them as well as me. God has heard your prayers and please know in your heart that you have forgiven them and so has God forgiven the person as well as you.. You were taught that God is not merciful gee who has been teaching you these things? God is very merciful He is very Loving and very forgiving and very understandable...And He loves you.

Forgiveness comes from inside you, so it doesn't matter if they are dead. It will realease so much from you to let that go and heal. Holding it in is only hurting you. God does say to forgive: "forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass unto us".
God Bless.

You are a little mixed up here. The person who died does not forgive your sin, God does. So, confess your sin to Him, ask for forgivness, and lay your hate at the foot of the cross.

Forgiveness is something YOU do and does not require the other person's participation at all. It is giving up YOUR hurt and anger and finding peace. Good luck.
