"Love is more of a verb than it is a noun."

If you really think about the statement above, you'll realize that it's true. Love is more than just a word......more than just to say you love.....but rather, is an action.
If this is so, considering that Love is the foundation of Christianity, since God is love, then the following statement should also hold true: "Christianity is more of a verb than it is a noun." But in today's world, does this really still hold true to a significant extent?
What do you think? In your view, is Christianity today more of a verb than a noun?........does it involve action as much as it involves talk? I'm greatly interested in your responses. Thanks.

Peace.

Is it possible that love is more than an action? A state-of-being?

I think it is both a verb and a noun. Christians (not all) have shown love through taking part in helping people, raising money for the less fortunate, and being supportive of family and friends.

However, it has also become a noun because some people are automatically categorized as Christian if they believe in a God, are abstaining from sex, or doing other things that doesn't really automatically make them Christian.

I can say that your detailed question is built, one paragraph after another, on suppositions, one of which is that the respondent will agree with your more basic suppositions. But, if I "play along" with your suppositions, I would have to say that a HUGE amount of times, Christianity is more of a noun than a verb. Maybe the opposite should be true, but, sad to say, I don't believe it is. And I include myself when I sadly consider that oftentimes Christianity, in this culture, is more of a noun than a verb. I hope God forgives me for this. God Bless you.

Love is a choice. We chose to love. In every minute of every day we have the choice to love. The expression of this choice to love can be difficult, but it is as real and relevant as it was 2000 years ago and before. God loved(s) us to the utmost, as he took our sin on himself died and fought and over came death so we wouldn't have to die as we all deserved. If we are to love Christ and accept salvation, we are accepting His reality and worldview wherein we imitate Christ. Therefore to paraphrase more scripture, if a person is a Christian they will be known by their love for others and works without love are empty. So Christians should be putting others before themselves, giving freely of the blessing God has given them and acting in a loving manner.

One man's opinion:
In today's world 'love' is a noun.
Its one of those things we think we are obliged to agree with, but don't really wish to.
Its a facade.
There is next to no action these days regarding christian love.
You asked.

1 Timothy 6:4
They are conceited and understand nothing. They have an unhealthy interest in controversies and quarrels about words that result in envy, strife, malicious talk, evil suspicions.

Don't get too hung up on words.

It's got to do with Matthew 25:35, 36.
"For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me."
