Sure. I like to think of them as little glimpses of heaven and hope that one day I'll be able to feel that way forever.

I found content when my children were born and then a second later they started crying and needed to be fed and there went my contentment !!!!
Also ,as a fat man ( I am ) I find content when I eat ( disorder of some type I think ) only to vanish a second later because I'm always hungry !
( seriously true , I have a enough sarcasm to laugh about it though )

I've had that feeling many times without wine. I don't drink. Last Saturday, we put the lights on the tree out back and Sunday night, having snowed all Saturday afternoon, I was laying on my side in bed looking through the wooden blinds of the sliding glass door at the lighted Christmas tree outside. My cats where curled up on the bed and I had a good book in my hand. My husband was snuggled right up behind me with his arm around me. Then I saw two deer cross in front of the lighted Christmas tree, making tracks in the snow. One paused to look in the window then continued on. And at that moment, everything was PERFECT! I was extremely happy, surrounded by loved ones, Christmas lights and nature. It was purrrfect.... I love my house, my yard, my cute little town and my husband was so nice and warm and the kitties are furry and purring and content.... the deer blessed me with their appearance. : ) Last night, my large cat was laying on the back of the couch like he usually does, so I can pet him at will. My Bengal (leopard spotted cat) was sitting in front of the fireplace. I was laying on the couch with a furry blanket. The Bengal was sitting up looking all regal and handsome and I looked at him and felt SO much love for the happy cat. he looked into my eyes and I could feel his feelings. he loves me and feels very content and felt that I was the same. It was wonderful. So happy. I could go on, but you know what I mean... : )

You can have contentment and reality at the same time. We all have other people in our lives tho and they create problems for us. That shouldn't destroy your contentment. Contentment comes from knowing you have good motives for what you do and that you are trying to do the right things. You didn't say what made your feelings change. I would be interested to know how that happened.

I used to have what people call; "Quickening." It's like an electrical charge or boost that can make you shiver or feel elated. Usually it's one of those Eureka or AHA! moments of truth or faith etc. When I was younger I remember feeling excited about going on a trip for vacation but it would be ruined when my dad would get mad at my mom for forgetting something or someone would tease me in the car.

When eating or having sex usually, for a little while there is complete contentment and then it's all over.

Yes: I often will be quite happy and content while watching my daughters play, but then they start to fight, and POOF!! Oh well. That's life. :o)
