Could it be possible that while Moses was on Mt. Sinai (sp?), if he was alone, he simply made up the Commandments? Maybe he got drunk and just dreamed them? Better yet: Can anyone answer this question without telling me that the Bible said it was so? In fact, just leave the Bible out of it. I want to see what kind of interesting answers I receive.

If one were to leave out the bible in answering your question, then the question itself becomes void.

For where but the Old Testiment do you suppose that the story of Moses and the commandments are written?

Moses is one of the main figures in influencing today's modern religions, so theoretically he could have lied about a lot of it.

But that's another argument.

All Jewish neshama (souls) were with Moses on Mt Sinai

The most momentous event in history took place on Shabbat, the sixth day of the month of Sivan, in the year 2448 from creation (1313 bce). On that day, the entire people of Israel ― more than 2 million men, women and children,1 as well as the souls of all future generations of Jews ― gathered at the foot of Mount Sinai to receive the Torah from G-d. Ever since, the event has been marked on our calendar as the festival of Shavuot,”the Time of the Giving of Our Torah.”

No one would go up on the mountain with Moses. The Israelites were scared to death of God and begged Moses to go up for them and come back down and tell them what God said. The mountain was smoking and the people saw lightning and heard thunder and the noise of trumpets. Moses' hair turned pure white and he glowed from being in the presence of God when he came back down.

What you are suggesting is impossible for one man. Also one of the commandments is to put to death the child that curses their mother or father. Plus many more like this. God also commanded exclusive worship and told Moses exactly how to design the altar of earth. He gave Moses the 3 appointed feasts. He gave Moses and the Israelites an angel to go before them. God explained that they would destroy the Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Canaanites, Hivites and Jebusites. No earthly man thinks that he can accomplish what God told Moses that he and the Israelites would accomplish. Moses was told how to make the ark of the covenant, the table of showbread, golden candlesticks and how to build the tabernacle exactly as God wanted.

You think you are so smart - read Exodus and all that you think Moses could dream up with his little pea brain. God told Moses how to arrange the 12 stones on the High Priest's garment. God even filled the craftsmen with His Spirit so they had wisdom and understanding and knowledge to build what God explained to Moses. These men knew nothing of these skills until God gave them to them.

To even put God's words down Moses would have needed dictation, but God gave Moses the Holy Spirit to bring it all to his mind.

Have you read Exodus 20 and 21 and Leviticus 17 and 18?
There were many more commandments than just ten. The whole book of Exodus is full of God's commandments. The laws for the US government is in that book. Read it and Leviticus and you'll see where your laws come from.

Virtually impossible for Moses to make up all of these commandments and skills. The ark of the covenant as described by an electrician is a natural conducter for electricity. The tabernacle was where God dwelt and the canvas raised and lowered as the Hebrews heard the breathing of God and God promised His presence in the tabernacle. All of this occured on Mt. Sinai in the Arabian desert where the children of Israel encamped around the mountain.

(I happened to read today what I've linked to below, if anyone's interested in the origin of the 10 Commandments and Jewish law.)

Ok, so if Moses just got drunk and dreamed them, then he came up with a set of behavior that was more advanced than most of what the world had back then. If that was the case, please, I'd love to have what he was drinking.

are you calling for eye witnesses to an event that might have happened thousands of years ago and then discounting the only historical text that refererences to this event?

it sounds like the arguement the christian gave the other day asking people to explain evolution without science, come on people next you will be asking for people to type an anser without their hands.

That's why it took him so long to carve all those tablets. The burning bush was just his night light.
