To say that 'god used evolution' is a serious compromise of scripture. There is nothing in the Bible to suggest such a thing. The book of Genesis is not a book of prophecy or poetry it is a book of history. The word “Genesis” literally means beginnings. It is God’s revelation through His servant Moses as to how the world was created. Clearly Moses took the days as literal days and so did the church for thousands of years until these faithless times. Not until so called modern science did a 180 degree turn and rejected God did the church begin to wavier on the authority of scripture. The church needs to decide if God’s Word on all matters which it touches upon is true or not. This is not a squabble about a insignificant issue this is an issue of authority; this is an issue where the church, where every Christian needs to lock arm and arm, and stand on the Word of God as it only perfect authority!

I find it curious as well that young earth creationists don't fully grapple with the fact that according to the Scriptures, time wasn't "marked off" by days and seasons and years until the fourth "day" of creation.
Strangely, they will hold to a literal Genesis in days as 24 hours, yet argue something quite different for the term "day of the Lord."
A 100% literal Bible is an impossibility in the sense that every passage needs some interpretation. Is it poetic? Is it symbolic? Is it prophetic? Is it narrative? Is it parable?
Fundamentalists just find it hard to give up anything they see as a "slip", lest the slippery slope take them into liberalism. Either fear drives it, or a passion for absolute truth (which may not be so easy to discern).
Faith in God certainly doesn't require that he used evolution (there are decent arguments for the science of creationism), but neither does such faith exclude the option entirely.

You only think it denys science because you believe (underlined) the concept of billions of years.
You say you are a Pastor / Rev ... if that is true, do you stand by your faith in God? I don't mean in the sense of believing the bible literally, I mean in the sense that He is Who He says He is...
Evolution / ID / Creationism are all valid theories.... and theories they will remain until we are able to either travel back in time, or ask God Himself.
And creationism does not for a minute deny science. Please take the time to investigate what creation scientists are saying before you make such statements
thank you
blessings :)

At one time "science" said, to bleed the bad blood. At one time Science said if you went faster than 60 mph you could not breath. At one time science said we were heading into a small ice age, ( in the 70's) 2nd Timothy 3:16 All scripture is God breathed and is useful in teaching...
We believe that the God we serve is more that able to get the story straight, and furthermore, keep the story straight. I don't serve a wishey washy God, but one who got it right the first time. If you wish to believe differently that's your choice.

The Bible wasn't written literally and shouldn't be read as such. It must be interpreted in the sense it was written. Is it completely impossible to believe that the tools of literature were in use when the Bible was written?

Evidence for a young world (not just young earth):
1. Galaxies wind themselves up too fast.
2. Too few supernova remnants.
3. Comets disintegrate too quickly.
4. Not enough mud on the sea floor.
5. Not enough sodium in the sea.
6. The earth's magnetic field is decaying too fast.
7. Many strata are too tightly bent.
8. Biological materials decays too fast.
9. Fossil radioactivity shortens geologic 'ages' to a few years.
10. Too much helium in minerals.
11. Too much C-14 in deep geologic strata.
12. Not enough Stone Age skeletons.
13. Agriculture is too recent.
14. History is too short.
If you are not familiar with the above topics, you really have only a very limited education in science. A few are debatable, but most are incontrovertibly scientific facts that old earth science cannot explain.

Christians are afraid of stepping out of their confort zone to explore an idea. The fear comes from programing thru the church.

I think creation stems from the idea of a beginning and an end
remove what you know and go with what is and you come up with something entirely different

"Why are some christians afraid to give up a 100% literal bible."
Because it sows seeds of doubt. If one passage isn't true, then maybe none are.
It's a shame so many realize that, yet are unable to take the next step and see that it's all mythology.

I think i have a good answer for you. GOD is infallible. So if the WHOLE Bible is not right then there is not a Christian GOD. So if science has the RIGHT answer and the bible has the WRONG answer then it destroys Christianity.
