I heard it on TLC... I thought all showers made steam...

It has a steam generator with a inlet into the shower, and the shower itself is typically designed to hold in the steam. They also function as a regular shower when the seam unit is not on.

People get them because it's like a steamy sauna, but nicer in my opinion because it's not so oppressively hot. So luxurious!

They are wonderful!

A steam unit works by using heating coils to heat the water to a boil. At that point, the steam is discharged. Depending on your shower bench design, you may need smaller tiles to handle the curves. Smaller tiles handle curves much better. By having the tile onsite before the shower’s bench is designed, the angle of the curves and natural arcs can be worked out.

It is steam that makes a shower. That way when you get out the mirror isn't all steamed up.
