As a dentist I am not sure why your regular dentist prescribed you this much medication. I can understand the Percocet, Ibuprofen (as this can usually be taken with Percocet if pain is not relieved), Phenergan and Amoxicillin (I assume you have no penicillin allergy) but the Vicodin is a little much, especially with the other pain relievers he has prescribed. I can understand the Phenergan suppositories because if you get a severe case of nausea from the pain medication a suppository will dissolve much quicker into the bloodstream than a tablet will. You may need to check with your pharmacy, they will usually call the doctor to verify that the prescription he/she wrote is in fact what they have ordered for you. In most cases I, myself, would have prescribed: Percocet, Ibuprofen 600 or 800 and an antibiotic. As always if you have any type of reaction to any of these medications visit you local ER immediately. Hope this helps and hope you feel better soon!

Crazy? Yes.
Phenergan suppositories for nausea created by the narcotics when you can't keep from throwing up- the phenergan tabs when you can keep a pill down.
percocet for severe pain.
Ibuprofen 600 is = 3 Advil (This is very good for dental pain and much less likely to cause nausea. Take 800 mg. and don't take any other pain meds during day and when you need to sleep you can take a vicoden instead of the ibuprophen.)
Vicoden: moderate to severe pain.
Decadron: a steroid that will keep you from swelling. Good to take.
Amoxil: needed to keep infection under control.
The bottom line is the Percocet, Vicoden and Ibuprofen are for pain but the Ibuprofen (800mg.) is all you will most likely need. So fill #'s 4,5,6,7 and take #5 only if needed for sleep the first and 2nd night. Don't take Vicoden on an empty stomach and you won't need the Phenergan.
Hope his extractions are better than his Rx dispensing.

Seems as if he's covering his bases...
You've got the amoxicillin to fight infection...
You've got the percocet and such for the pain...
And you've got the phenergan for when the pain killers make you sick (at least he was nice enough to give you the suppositories)!
I would definitely bring the whole list to the pharmacist. Also, if you have had any negative reactions to any of these in the past, let the pharmacist know, so that they can cross them off the list.

the suppositories would be because some pain killers make you constipated. percocet, vicodin, ibuprofen for pain I don't know what 3&6 are for, the amoxixillin for in case of infection
but yeah that is alot. you only need one pain killer not 3. Iwould be sure to talk pharmicist before taking all that

Taking all that stuff will kill you. Take the amoxicillin and the Ibuprofen tonight, and call your primary care physician in the morning for advice. You should also report your dentist to the American Dental Association.

I'd say your dentist is totally off his rocker if that's true..
Maybe a couple of the items.. yes.. Amoxicillin and a pain killer.. yah.. But a number of things that do the same things, etc? Sounds more like he was making a list of the local drug store inventory..
Hope you're just kidding!

That seems like a bit much, are you supposed to take them all at once?
I would think maybe take the Percocet and Amoxicillin and you'd be fine (that worked when I got my wisdom teeth out).
Maybe there was something in your chart that is making him give you all those extra things.

that's way more medication then anyone would need for Tooth removal. I can see using one painkiller and the antibiotics, but not all the rest. Definitely call a pharmacist and find out exactly what you should take. Most people would love to find a doctor who would give out so much drugs.

Um, generally your dentist is right (my mom is a dentist) but I cannot believe he prescribed you all those MAJOR pain drugs. If a drugee got his hands on those..he would be in paradise. All you need is amoxicillin and if your pain is bad, Vicodin OR ibuprofen. DON NOT QUOTE ME THOUGH I AM ONLY AN EAVESDROPPER FROM MY MOM. YOUR DENTIST KNOWS BEST BUT I THINK HE/SHE WENT OVERBOARD

YES! This just doesn't even sound right.
Get a second opinion! WHAT EVER YOU DO - DON'T TAKE ALL THESE THINGS JUST YET! See another dentist and tell them what your previous dentist did. Maybe there's something nefarious going on! GET A SECOND OPINION.
