My cousin said im ugly and I need to tan...is she right?

I'm naturally very pale. However, im not completely white, my skin is a pinkish whiteish pale. I have freckles.
My eyes are blue.
And my natural hair color is brown.
my hair is dyed black and red/brown.
I went to visit family and my cousin said pale people are ugly and gossiped about it with her friends, and then I said "Am I ugly?" and she said " No, you just need to tan!"
And now I've begun to think.....maybe she is right.....because where I live no one is pale.

I think she is very rude and you shouldn't take what she said to heart. But if you do decide to tan, make sure you use sun screen of at least 35+ because you are so fair complected and do it only about 15 minutes , if your like me you tend to burn fast. I don't believe you really should because of skin cancer and it ages a person faster then someone who doesn't get in the sun as much. Talk to your mom about it . I'm sure your beautiful just the way you are.

Your cousin sounds like a brat, calling all pale people ugly.. that's just rude. Personally, I'm not exactly pale, but I'm not really that tan either. She sounds rude, beauty is different to everyone. You shouldn't try to get a fake tan when you're naturally white. It wouldn't hurt to go out in the sun but if you do and just don't tan it's NOT your fault!

She sounds rude. Reminds me of a cousin of mine, she said I was pale, but compared to her anyone is.

First of all, no one NEEDS a tan. Unless you were forced to live in a mine your whole life and have NEVER seen the sun, whatever skin color you have is perfectly healthy.

Secondly, there are plenty of men who like a woman with "porcelain" skin as my husband likes to call it. He is Hispanic and he loves my pale, silky smooth skin. You are not ugly, you are just white.

i dont think that you should dye your hair black as it makes you look paler than u already are mayb go for a lighter shade.
i am naturally pale too although i tan in the sun
maybe try a fake tan but watch out as some fake tans make your skin go orange. just remember to exfoliate your skin before if your putting it on at home.

It doesn't matter what your cousin said; it matters what you think about how you look.

And take into consideration that tanning is still getting sunburned. Your skin becomes darker when your skin cells are trying to protect you from more sun.

And being pale is not a terrible thing.

Your cousin is not somebody whose opinion you should incorporate into your worldview, obviously.
And when women tear each other down with pitiful, superficial criticism, it is pathetic.

She is just being mean,,,,,,,,,now a days tanning is taboo. With your skin features the sun is not good for you as far as tanning goes. Ignore her opinion and just be your happy self.

Whether you need a tan or not is up to you. If you don't want to, just say you don't want skin cancer, or to age prematurely. Didn't you ever see "Something about Mary"?

She is probably just jealous of you. Tanning is your personal choice, but don't let your cousin make you feel self concious about it.
