Do you honestly believe that quoting passages of scripture is going to improve a situation that undoubtedly is the byproduct of many years of tension and family dysfunction?
News flash - religion isn't a fixative for real, human problems. Healthy relationships take work, not quotes.
Get your friend some counseling, perhaps a book on how to communicate effectively, and talk to her about the problems. That's how things get solved in life, not reading the bible.

Your friend can pray that their relationship with each other
will get better and that they are not constantly bickering.
Psalms 55:22, Throw your burden upon Jehovah and he himself will sustain you.
1 Cor 10:13,
13 No temptation has taken YOU except what is common to men. But God is faithful, and he will not let YOU be tempted beyond what YOU can bear, but along with the temptation he will also make the way out in order for YOU to be able to endure it.

I know that some mothers are just friggin' nuts. So I haven't a Bible verse, just some advice: maintain a safe distance.

Tell your friend to start listening to her mom instead of starting a fight every time her mom tries to give her advice about something.

Tell her that she needs just to wait a few years. That's how it worked for me. My mom and I get along great. She probably needs to respect her mom more, if she were willing to make the first move, her mom would probably follow suit. Bring her flowers, etc.

Get her to see things from mom's perspective. Ask her what her reaction would be if her own child treated her the way she treats her mom.
i.e., what would she do with a teenage daughter that she has to support fully, clothe, educate, buy a car, send to college ... who then has the audacity to challenge her authority.

I would say that her mom needs to know the verse....teach a child the way and when she is old she will not depart from it.

Just use the Christian⢠Standard Answer for such things: Tell them they'll go to Hell if they don't do what you think they should.
