My chocolate lab had really bad skin allergies, and the vet said to give him a benadryl a day. He got one a day for nearly 16 years. The allergy pills the vet initially prescribed were very expensive, so she suggested the benedryl herself to save money. Just make sure to check with a vet for proper dosing, because depending on body weight, she may not need a whole pill.

No no no. See a vet and get the dog checked out. Some natural human remidies can be given to animals but not with out strict veterinary supervision. If you give the wrong medication you could cause a bad reaction or even death. I know you are concerned but seeing a vet is the best choice.
Good Luck

I just got a new puppy myself, and I feed her three times a day and when she hits 6 months I will drop her to two times a day with my other dogs. Puppies grow so fast and quickly and require so much fuel for their energies. I have also been told by numerous vets and friends that feeding the larger breeds of dog more often helps prevent certain things happening like bloat, which is when the stomach twists from being over full and exercising right after a meal. The best thing to do with a puppy is feed and water it at the same time and then go right outside to potty. I don't allow my puppy to have water after 7pm because it minimizes accidents until she is fully potty trained. If your puppy will still poo/pee in the house without asking to go out, then it isn't potty trained.

According to "The First Aid Companion for Dogs and Cats" by Amy D. Shojai, you can give dogs benydrle. However, you should really get the dog to a vet for stronger medication.

No. You never want to give an animal any kind of medince a human would take. It could make the animal ill or kill it. There are allergy medicines for animals, you just need to go see the vet to find out what they are.

My vet told me I could give my dog benadryl. She told me the specific dose for the size & breed of my dog. You really need to ask a vet first because most human medications are poison to dogs.

Before giving your dog medications I would check by calling the vet to ensure the dog needs the meds.
Your dog could just be bored so she licks her paw.

No, you don't give animals human medicines. You want to take her to the vet and let them give her some dog allergy medicine. Giving her human medicine could only make her sicker.

A vet will advise you to give your dog a fragment of a children's Benadryl based on the body weight of your dog.
