I know that it sounds like a dumb question, but when I was 18 I thought I was getting old, so now I'm 23 and was wondering from the older people if 23 is old. Do you look back at 23?

I just turned 41, so relatively speaking, NO.

At that age I had just found my vocation, so I was still working to get the education I needed to work in the field which I still love after 15 years in practice.

When I was 23, I had been dating a guy for 2 years who later became my husband, father of my child, ex-husband and then passed away.

I was driving my first new car back then... which I traded in when it had 175,000 miles - for the 2nd new car, which I traded in when it had 190,000 miles - for the 3rd new car, which I traded in when it had 165,000 miles - for the 4th new car, which just turned 21,000 miles.

WOW! 23 seems like it was a whole lifetime ago!
Thanks for making ME feel old! LOL!

You have a lot of living and learning yet to do, and hopefully so do I...

I look at 18-25 as "grown up childhood". It seems very young, and you change so much between 18 and 25 that it is incredibly dumb to make huge commitments such as a relationship or marriage, or having a child between those ages, because the adult you grow into at 25 may be completely incompatible with those choices.

And yes, it is quite young. You don't start feeling the effects of age until at least 35 years old and it starts at about 30 when your hangover lasts more than a day, and all doubt that you are getting old ends when your doctor tells you about your high blood pressure at 38. At that point if you still have all your hair and it's mostly not gray you feel liek you're cheating age!

Are you crazy?

If someone died at 23, would you look back and go "Well... at least they made it to a ripe old age?"

Come on, now. 1000 years ago 23 wasn't old, and people only lived into their 40s then.

It depends from who's perspective. To other adults, of course not, 23 would be seen as quite young. Children and teenagers however...
