you heavily isn't doing any welding as an officer. My answer is that it relies upon on what you desire to do with the army. in case you desire to be a pilot or some thing, do no longer waste time, bypass get your degree asap. while you're thinking of coming up a occupation out of the army, then i'd fairly recommend enlisting for 4 years, get a pair college classes decrease than your belt once you're in, then get your degree once you get out, then bypass lower back in as an officer. That way you have got first hand understanding of what it became desire to be interior the trenches of the enlistd ranks, and it will tutor you a thank you to to be a extra proper chief. just_hangin_out makes an exceptionally good ingredient. he's nice. officers ought to do plenty extra saluting than enlisted.

As a retired Navy man, I can absolutely confirm that they get to go out and have fun. However, officers are generally held to a higher moral degree and it is frowned upon if they get out of hand. Normally, in the politics of the game, such transgressions are swept under the rug as often as possible with a slap on the wrist or perhaps a reprimand for more serious offenses.

Everyone goes and they take turns so that everyone gets into town. But on board ship officers have better sleeping quarters, and they eat in the Officers ward room not the crews mess hall. The best job in the Navy is being a pilot. It doesn't matter wether you fly mail planes or Hornets you have best working conditions and personal freedoms.

I'm in the Coast Guard and have been assigned to a ship. The rules for us are drink responsibly, have a good time, and get back to the ship in one piece. If you get intoxicated, even on land duty, the command always has someone on duty who will pick you up if you can not drive.

We are all human beings, officers and enlisted. What we do out of uniform does reflect on our careers.

oh no, they have plenty of fun in port. I have pictures of SEVERAL wetting downs in my husband's wardrooms.

but I have to say: if all you are worried about is whether or not you can go get stupid drunk in Phuket.. that's a pretty crappy reason to choose Officer over Enlisted. you Commission because you have what it takes to LEAD Sailors, not to party down like the young dumb and stupid kids on their firsttrip away from home.

I also have tales of entire careers being ruined by kids..and not so young ones either doing stupid stuff in port.

Yeah you can go into port and have a drink, you just can't have a lot of fun like the enlisted do!

Yes, officers can go on liberty in foreign ports just like the e-ranks and have a drink if that's their wish to do so.

NOT in the US Navy, but was aboard both a Canadian and British frigate and they had a well stocked bar on board.
