I can only assume this is in reference to a marriage? In either case I would think ( and I could be very wrong) that you have now given up all claim to what you have left behind. Certainly there are better ways to do it.

You could do it, just sign everything over to someone self or sell it. It's not that hard starting over. You could reinvent yourself.
