From a political perspective I think a North American Union would not work.

the whole point of super-national entities is so that they work together with somewhat equal footing.

A union between the United States, Canada, and Mexico will lead simply to American dominance.

The United States has three times the population of Mexico and ten times that of Canada. It also dwarfs the other two's economy. Their is simply no way to make it advantageous for either side.

The only way such a union would work properly is if Canada and Mexico simply fold into the United States becoming and additional 30 or so states in the union.

but that dose not look like it will happen in the near future.

that's a political question, and would have to be answered in that context...as a Christian, i have no 'religious basis' for an opinion on it...but, in practical terms, i don't see it happening...i don't see any of the nations involved being willing to give up any kind of economic or political sovereignty...
