Ive said this before. If adam and eve were the only humans made by god, then they had kids right. So they have kids right so who do they breed with next?? there kids have no one else but them selves. Which I may add is indeed incest. In are modern day we condemned this. But in the bible it is alright. So why would god wanna start man kind off like this? It is not only morally wrong but most of time the children are born with defects. If god thinks its alright then how come humans don't think its right today?

This is why Catholics consider the Bible to be allegory, inspired poetry with some history sprinkled in.

Modern historical scholarship did not start until the 1800's before then all works written as history were pitches, some history and some poetry.. If I remember correctly a German professor in the 1800's set down the guidelines for modern historical scholarship to which we are accustomed today.

Catholics consider Adam and Eve as De Fide (proclamation of faith) but also in the religion there is room for evolution.. To get this completely ironed out, you would need to check with Priests and Reverends of each of the many Christian denominations and ask how each denomination interprets the Bible which is a set of books written at different times by different people.. Each denomination will give you a different answer: a different answer depending on which book of the Bible, which section..

The foundation is faith in the final analysis.

Incest is evil, a crime, wrong..

This has been asked and answered hundreds of times before on Y!A. Try using the search function.

Incest was not expressly forbidden until the law of Moses was given.

I suppose that God wanted every human alive to come from one single set of parents so that we would realize that we are all brothers & sisters, and we wouldn't fight. How come no one ever stops to think about that? Hum, it didn't occur to you either.

One theory as to why incest didn't harm people in the old days is that supposedly the human DNA was more pure in the old days. Damage done to the human genome over the generations make mutations more likely in latter generations, so it is condemned today.

Happy now?

And why does some moron always be the first to answer these type of stupid questions with "way to go, stumping those religious types with logic"? Sounds like you and your friends are not too sure of themselves if you always have to ridicule people with differnt beliefs than your own.

2,000 years ago bores you but 6,000 years is alright to talk about. Ok, so anyway, we don't know what would have happened if sin had not entered the world. We know that God didn't set man up to fail. He said "Do not eat of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil," and that is what he meant. God does not say anything he doesn't mean. So, to say that God started man off in the way it started is wrong.

Since you've asked for no scriptures then I can assume you will believe everything I say. Without giving scriptures where does it say Adam and Eve were the only humans? Cain killed Able. God then set Cain out to the wilderness with a mark and a warning that God will punish anyone that killed Cain; who were these 'people' that were warned not to hurt or kill Cain? It says; "Let us make man in our image...". Who are the 'US' being spoken of?

God set the 12 tribes of Israel on the earth; using adam and eve as symbolism of how man gave up God's knowledge and wisdom for earths knowledge and wisdom.
