Like most answers before, it is alright to do that. Most cooking would be done in 8-10 hours.
I would suggest to take some general safety precaution in letting a electric cooker along for that amount of time.
1. Make sure the cooker is resting on secured and solid surface,
2. No flammable around the cooker
3. Inspect that the cooker is plugged into an outlet with ground fault interrupt circuit
4. Avoid using extension cord to connect to the cooker; plug directly to the outlet,
5. This is not a safety concern. You might want to cover nice things around the cooker, some cooker lids are made less than perfect fit with the bowl and cause splashing of the liquid contents around the cooker over long period of cooking.

Of course it is...just make sure that the cooker is set to low. Most recipies take about 8-10 hours to cook when the setting is on low, and it is practically impossible to overcook food in a slow-cooker. :)

Yes you can leave it on all day, but only on the LOW setting! The high setting will cook it in about 4 hours or so.

Sure, that's what they're made for. Just put everything in, cover, set on the lowest setting and head out the door. If you have a fancier crockpot, use low and 10-12 hours, depending on what your workday is like.

It's fine. Nothing evaporates in a slow cooker, so it won't burn.

yes, if you're going to have it on for more than 4 hours, make sure it's set on low.
