This question might sound awful, but my male shih-tzu is four months and hasn't dropped yet...is that normal? I would like him to be fertile so we can breed with my aunts female shih-tzus. Thanks

Probably not going to happen. He's also sterile and the cryptorchid testicles should be removed before they get cancerous.

They should have been dropped by the time he was born. Some little dogs will drop later, but rarely after 4 months. You might wait a couple of more months to be sure, but if they don't it would be a good idea to neuter him...retained testicles can become cancerous when the dog is older.

If they haven't dropped by four months they probably won't. Not all dogs are of breeding quality. Some people keep breeding just for money regardless of quality. That's where problems like this come from.

I agree. Neuter your canines and luxuriate in him for the puppy that he's. He has a genetic ailment which would be handed onto his offspring in case you breed him. Breeding might desire to in straight forward terms be performed responsibly. If he in straight forward terms has one descended testicle, it truly is an automated fault and he's no longer a stable occasion of the breed. Please only neuter him. no longer each and every canines might desire to be bred. some are only meant to be large pets.

That breed is awful for that happening. Best to get him neutered or they will become cancerous.
