Now a team made up of a geneticist, philosopher and chicken farmer claim to have found an answer. It was the egg.
Put simply, the reason is down to the fact that genetic material does not change during an animal's life.
Therefore the first bird that evolved into what we would call a chicken, probably in prehistoric times, must have first existed as an embryo inside an egg. CNN.com
The tree will produce sound waves. However, these sound waves will not actually sound like anything. Sound as it is mechanically understood will occur, but sound as it is understood by sensation will not occur. Wikipedia.org

The chicken would have to come first because an egg comes from a chicken. Why wouldn't a tree make a sound if they fall in a forest? All trees make a sound when they fall in the forest.

I believe the egg came first as two other types of birds probaly mated and thus formed the chicken egg.
Yes a tree would make a sound if it fell in the forest and no one was around. Thats saying things only happen if there are people present we are up ourselves enough as it is.

This is TWO questions and they should cost you 10 points.. VERRRRRY interesting though.. hmmm.. the egg probably came before the chicken as it doesn't specify a "chicken egg" and there are sooo many other kinds of eggs.. the tree would make a sound UNLESS it fell on the mic (tape recorder or cellphone) below OR if it fell from high enough that the speed as it fell on your head was such that you were DEAD before you heard it hit (greater than the speed of sound?) .. since terminal velocity of freefalling objects is about 200mph, i doubt that is possible..
alll these questions are making my head hurt..............

If a tree falls in the forest and no one is there to hear it, should we still not liberate the Iraqi people? (G.W. Bush)
Which came first, the chicken or the egg? I don't know about them chickens, but I didn't have sexual relations with that woman, regardless of who came first. (W.J. Clinton)

the chicken had to come first. it evolved from who-knows-what, and it layed an egg and made more chickens.
asking if a tree makes a sound when it falls is like asking if toddlers cry when they fall and no one is around. people automatically say "good question...." when the answer is obviously "yes". logically, is a tree any quieter when it falls and no one is around? i didnt think so.

if a tree falls and there is no one there it dose not make sound. it makes sounds waves(pretty much same thing) or so my teacher said. as for the chicken and the egg situation, i believe they were both here at the same time.

I'll tackle the tree.
The answer is no. The falling tree does not make a sound. It makes sound waves! If there is not an ear or some kind of recording devise to process the sound, then the sound waves are not picked up . Sound is processed in our brains. When people talk, they are not making sounds, they are producing waves of vibration that our ears pick up and then an eletrochemical reaction occurs in our brain and it interprets the vibration as a sound of a voice.
Frequency of soundwaves is to our ears as frequencies of color in light is to our eyes.

Oh I get it.
Yah chickens come first because they have to lay the egg.
And if a tree falls in the forest it dose make a sound, everything makes a sound.
