Is the earth going to get so hot that we will need to sit in pools all day with air conditioning on in the winter?
Will it get to that in my lifetime? (I'm 13)
If we work to fix it, will it ever get like that?

Thank you!

Global warming is NOT a joke as #1 said, and #2 is in denial, Arizona can get a lot hotter than it is today as #3 said, and #4 is being a little dramatic.

My answer to this question is...If people don't take action now by doing their part in slowing the process down...It will get hotter. There are several theories out stating we will be a NEW ice age...and so on.

All I can really tell you is...Do your part by recycling what can be recycled at your recycling company & recycle the rest at others. Save as much energy as possible by conserving & compacting...Live a greener life & don't worry about all the hateful remarks you will get by doing so. All you can do is try to get other people on the "green wagon", and encourage them to do what you do...Just feel sorry for those who don't believe in the global warming issue.
I do not believe it will get that bad in your life time...Just try to teach other about the green life & you can help preserve enough for the next generation. Thanks so much for your concern...God bless you sweet heart.

No. In fact the current warming trend is probably just part of a cycle. I would imagine if we had realistic meteorological data from more than just a hundred years we would see a pattern (or frequency), not unlike sound and light waves form.

If there is indeed a warming going on, over time I would guess it will be followed by a cooling, which in turn will be followed by yet another warming and so on. There is nothing to panic about. The world as we know it will not end. We are not all going to perish as a result of this warming trend. Just about everything we understand to date has a pattern. This wave pattern occurs often in nature, including ocean waves, sound waves, and light waves. All of these can be graphed or illustrated with a sine wave, and as a result can then be monitored and analyzed. In the case of global temperature we just don't have enough accurate data yet to ''plot'' a pattern which would help us predict coming changes. Don't forget, the only accurate recorded data we have dates back only about 100 years, everything else is just theories and guesswork.

Most of it is just the liberal's media stirring things up. For example, if the polar ice caps are melting the why after only forty years in the Arctic did they find a squadron of air planes 250 feet below ice?

Something's seriously wrong when we've got young kids worrying themselves over a problem caused mainly by adults and exaggerated by the media.

Let me give you an answer based on lots of years studying global warming and climate change (nearly twice as long as you've born).

Global warming is a problem and there are a lot of negative consequences, we're seeing these all around the world. It will get worse before it gets better but it will not get so bad that you need to sit in a pool all day. In fact, if you could jump forward 100 years it would just feel a bit warmer.

Imagine you live in a state that is a degree or two warmer than where you live now - that's what it will be like in 20 or 30 years time. Now imagine you live in a state perhaps 4 or 5 degrees warmer - that what it could be like in 100 years time.

Temperatures are rising, as nature goes they're rising very fast indeed, as humans go they're rising slowly. We adapt well to a variety of temperatures and people live quite happily in very cold and very hot countries.

There are many consequences of global warming but in the US and Europe we're well placed to deal with many of them - there may be inconveniences, there may be costs to be met but it won't be anything like as bad as the effects in Africa and Asia.

We are working to fix the problem and there are several schemes being looked at. These could be up and running in perhaps 10 years time. Once in place they'll take a while to have an effect but maybe in 20 years we'll have global warming under control.

You're right to be concerned but please don't worry unnecessarily - it's not as bad as the media often make it out to be.

Probably not sitting in pools all day, bt if the earth gets hotter by 20% we will have major problems with flooding from the icecaps. Winter will never be hot enough that we need swimming pools 365 days a year, but some places could become completely uninhabitable.

No one really knows what the long-term effects of global warming will be. The best thing you can do is to act locally to reduce the impact the effects of global warming, even a little bit. Walk and bike when you can. Use cloth bags when you go to the grocery store instead of using plastic bags. Use energy efficient lightbulbs. If you start doing that, you're doing great. Thanks for asking.

You will hear many arguments for and against man-made global warming. There are still skeptics but what does it hurt to do the above mentioned things. What do you have to lose? If nothing else, you'll get exercise and with the cloth bags, you're cutting down on waste.

Don't be afraid, though. I grew up during the cold war. I was afraid of nuclear war with the Russians. This was a very real threat at the time. But there was a solution and I think there will be a solution to global warming.

I am also wondering the same thing. I am your age and I have heard so many predictions of whts going to happen to the world in 40, 12, and sometimes 100 years! Some of them are scary, and some seem so unrealistic you can't possibly imagine them happening. I believe that no one really knows for sure whats going to thw world. And if you think about it, if the Earth did get so hot, it would be a struggle to have pools with evaporating water.

Pools ???
you are dreaming
when Global warming takes of .
And it has hardly started yet
you will have used all of your water in the pool to do the washing and flush the toilet
there wont be water for pools in a world under the full impact of Global warming or to irrigate your garden either

Stop worrying. Its not go to happen. Don't think about the warm temps today and equate it with global warming, because there is no such thing. Weather is just cyclical, and we're in a warm cycle right now. The global warming thing is just a scam to cause us to be afraid. It is a culture of fear that is designed to make us spend money where those propagating the scam want us to.

I watched a documentary about global warming about a month ago. They said that it's a possibility in about a century from now or so.
