The butterfly peacock bass isnt related to and isnt the same as a bass or redfish. They are in extreme south Florida ponds and canals the furthest north they range is Lake worth area in Florida

That gimmenamenow really knows her stuff.
FYI...
a Peacock Bass is not a "bass" at all. It is a member of the cichlid family and lives in fresh to brackish water.
Red Drum when pronounced backwards is "murder"...just thought you should know that being in Florida and all.

Redfish, reds, red drum, but no, peacock bass are something else, they're not reds.

As to any other names for reds, I can't think of any more, at least that are used commonly around my area, if you use one of those, though, people will know what you're talking about.

Have fun.

Edit.....

*grin* Thanks guys. *blush*

Edited some more...

I guess the fish just like me better, Brandon, maybe if you stopped braggin'. ;)

Gimme and Exert got it right. When I was growing up we called "Reds", "Red-Bass". They are in the "Drum" family.

Just thought I'd add my 2 cents!
