a better description is i was sitting on the end of the bed and saw the reflection of something shining in the window and looked over in the hall to see a large (3 feet tall 2 feet wide) opaque white-light oval and it quickly vanished, the sides just moved into the middle until it was gone. maybe it was some type of affect from a medication i was on one year earlier. i was just wondering if anyone else has seen anything like that

It could be the effect of oxygen deprivation. I've heard that a sudden change to high altitude, for example, can produce light effects in the eye as the body tries to accommodate to the reduced levels of oxygen. In a rare case scenario it could be ball lightning, but I really doubt that. If you have any more issues, see your doctor. The same thing happens to me when I am dreaming, falling asleep, or rub my eyes too hard.

More info.
Where was the ball of light, what kind of terrain and weather, did it have or leave any smell, or any colours.
You might find something similar here.
