People vary quite a bit in their response to different medications. Some people absorb a given drug quicker or slower than others, they may metabolize (break down chemically) the drug faster or slower than others. Also, some people may produce a given metabolic enzyme in greater quantities or even an alternate version of a normal enzyme. People also produce neurotransmitters at different rates and may have more or fewer or more or less sensitive receptors for a given drug. For all these reasons, not everyone experiences the same exact same results or side effects from any given drug. It also takes about 4 to 6 weeks to see the full effect of psychoactive medications, so if you decide to take them, expect that there may be side effects, and give it a little time to see if you adjust to them or if they are intolerable. If the side effects are intolerable, don't be shy about telling your doctor so he/she can come up with an alternative and switch to something different.

For me they were terrible. Just knowing i had to take them because 'i was a danger to myself and others ' makes the experience 20 times worse. The side effects are crazy too. They are so much worse than the actual condition they are supposed to be treating

I take them due to Arthritis. My GP prescribed 5 mgs of Valium at night and so I took it, got up two days later! I then cut the pill in half, started taking half every other day and built up to 2mgs per night. They certainly help to relax the muscles.
