I'm looking for some books to help guide me on the path for personal and spiritual enlightenment. I would like to note that I'm not looking for strictly Buddhists books, although I'm open to them I want to read about enlightenment from many different perspectives. I know true enlightenment must be found within, but I figure it can't hurt to have a few guides to help me out. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.

It depends greatly upon your present inclinations. Yoga will get you there - but bhakti is meant for the devotional, jnana is considered more heady but it is direct understanding, karma is just a physical life path, etc, etc.

Buddhism is akin to jnana yoga or advaita vedanta.

For something general that might help and is for general audiences, I would try Eckhart Tolle (power of now & a new earth). Being present is 1/2 the battle and could take some all the way.

If you just want to skip the reading, realize you are That...you are already enlightened. You are Brahman...live as such. Let go of the transitory (impermanent) for they are not real.
