I was working on microsoft word and I tried to create a new, sepreate document using a template from an older one (the template wouldn't copy). Anyways, I erased my older document, which was about 500 words and very well-written!!! Is there any way I can recover the older version? I'm desperate here!

Try exiting Word and restarting it. Word's autosave might offer to recover it for you.
My advice --- SAVE OFTEN!
Set Words autosave feature to about 10 minutes as a precaution. Goto Tools> Options

if u have not restart your system - u may still have chance- go to the power switch at the wall and switch off the system (if it is a notebook - press the on./off switch and hold it on until it switched off. i call it pull the plug - because u want to retain the tmp files created by Word.
when u restart your system - Press F8 when the system is booting up - go to Safe Mode
then when the system boots up - do a search for files that has .tmp. u can can use *.tmp and ~*.*
if u can find any of these, check the date and time to identify the files that u were wrting earlier - u can open it with Wordpad - u may be able to retrieve some of the 500 word document, copy it and paste it back to your blank doc.
no garantee u will find what u want but worth a try...
500 words isn't alot leh - surely u can rewrite it slowly...

If you erased the text, I'm so sorry to hear that. If you deleted the file, it might be in your in basket. Or, if the document is still open, you might try an UnDo Typing in the Edits menu. Good luck.

as far as I know. word create a backup of the file is been edited. try to find it and you can get back your document. try looking in the temp folder. I have done this a couple of times and it worked. but if you had enabled save document automaticly every certain time, maybe you won't be able to do it
by the way, tha temp file does not have the same name. so try opening every singles word doc you find in the temp folder. (remember to look for .bak)

If the original is an old document then close it and don't save. When you reopen it the first copy should be back. If you already saved it since you erased it all, you are probably out of luck.

Search for a back up copy of the file with the same file name. (the extension will be different) This will be a hidden file, so you will need to change the view properties.
