No, its an old myth.
If that was the case you could lose massive amounts of weight by maintaining your protein intake and eating ice.

I once read that drinking room temp water will circulate throughout the body better because your system isn't ice cold so why should your water be. Then I read somewhere that drinking ice cold water will help your body work harder because your body is warm and it works on heating up the ice water. Both make sense but I think the key is to just make sure you get enough of it....room temp or cold. With that said...I also read somewhere that the amount of water you should be drinking depends on how much you weight. So what you do is take your weight and divide that in two. Whatever the "half" is the the amount of oz that you should be drinking. Now that can be A LOT. And drinking too much water CAN KILL YOU. It takes time to be able to drink lots of water without running to the bathroom every two seconds. But as your body gets use to it, it will aid in eliminating the excess salt in your body that holds water. In addition, it helps the body work more efficiently. That will enable the body to dispel fat better. Good luck!

The temperature of what you drink has nothing to do with how much weight you will lose. What is important when you are exercising and trying to lose weight in the amount of liquid you are consuming.
Here is an example.
A calorie is the amount of energy needed to raise 1ml of water 1 degree Celsius.
The hottest temperature we can comfortably drink something at is 60°C (140°F)
The difference between 37° (body temp) and 60° is 23°
The amount of calories it would take to bring that tea to body temp is only 5.52. Hardly worth even mentioning.
In order for the body to maintain normal temperature, even at rest, it needs 50 to 70 thousand calories.
That means that cup of tea only contains enough calories to run the body for 5 minutes. There is nothing left over for regulating body temperature.
The same works for cold drinks. The temperature you drink them at does not affect the amount of calories you burn enough to impact the amount of weight you are going to use.
The numbers of calories in this answer probably look really off. To explain, the nutrition information you see on packages etc. do not use single calories, represented by a lower case 'c'. The use units of 1,000 calories represented by an upper case 'C'. I answered this question using all single calorie units to keep everything in context.

athough the difference is negligible, cold water will cool your body down slightly, so your body will need to bring the temp back up by increasing meatbolism. hey thats why they suggest the cold beer and ice cream diet :P just kidding

your body will burn more calories trying to make the cold water body temperature. if you are in a cold room or hot room, your body burns calories trying to regulate your body temperature.
