Very confusing, Is it a 6 cylinder or a 289 V8? If it's a 6 it's not even worth messing with. But, If you have a 289 V8 there's lots of ways to wake it up. A 289 is a high revving motor. Put you some 351 Windsor 4 barrel heads on it, A good intake and carb, headers and a better cam. About the best it will do is around 290 hp and tq in the 350 ft lbs range. Be very careful and don't over rev it. 351 W heads will make it breath better. They will also make it sling itself apart.

Roger got them right, but forgot the early model "D" with 210 hp and Shelbys had 306 hp.
