We worship God, in the form of the Holy Trinity. Mary and the saints are venerated due to their devotion and closeness to God, but are not worshipped.

No, not at all. We worship only God.
We honor Mary a great deal, but we do not worship her.
In the Mass (the high point of Catholic worship), Mary is barely mentioned at all -- and never in a way that could be construed as worship.
Also, we do not pray to Mary. We ask her to pray for us, which is entirely different.
Even the "Hail Mary" -- if you read the words carefully, you'll see that it's a request for her prayers. It's not a prayer to her as if she is God -- because she's not.

no we do not worship mary. the commandment "honor your father and mother"- mary is the mother of jesus therefore he would honor her, we are family spiritually and therefore mary becomes our mother aswell thus the honor we give her. but not worship. in the prayer the "hail mary" you may notice the line
"hail mary full of grace PRAY for us sinners now and at the hour of death" people who claim we pray to mary ought to look at this line,if we prayed to mary why would we ask her to pray for us,we are asking her to pray to god for us,the same as asking your pastor, family or friends. mary and the saints are more alive than any of us here on earth and thus it is not praying to the dead either. i know you will get alot of various responses but positive and negative, here are some catholic sites where you can see for yourself what catholics believe regarding the matter and not the misguided protestant perceptions.

hope this helps and god bless. another good resource is the catechism of the catholic church which deals with the issue in detail and from scripture.

Yes the official Catholic position for 1600 years is that Mary is Queen of Heaven. Any answer to the contrary is deliberately misleading.
Any mention of the Communion of Saints by Catholic apologists, pr agents and spin doctors is totally irrelevant to this question. So too is any argument that Mary is just considered one of the more important saints of the church.
Catholics worship, I mean as a Goddess- Mary as Queen of Heaven. That is precisely how she is viewed and many, thousands of churches have statues of Mary with a crown in recognition of this official catholic position for over 1600 years!
(431 CE) The Christian church through the Ecumenical Council of Ephesus presided by St. Cyril of Alexandria and Emperor Theodosius II did claim as church doctrine that Mary, may be officially worshiped as Mother of God

As an Anabaptist Christian who has studied Roman Catholicism, my understanding as a non-Catholic is that Catholics don't worship Mary, rather they pray to her to ask God for intercession. I think reading a Catholic Catechism might help you with more question on the Roman Catholic faith.

Yes, they do. I was born and raised catholic and not only do they worship Mary, but they also pray to all the dead saints. They try and say they don't worship Mary, but then they can't explain why all the prayers to Mary, such as the holy Mary, and hail Mary, and others. What the catholics do not understand and won't except is that Mary cannot do anything for them as she is also dead and had her own sins which she had to ask forgiveness for. Also the saints too are dead and praying to the dead is necromancy. They use a rosary with many prayers to Mary but still will claim they don't worship her. The truth is, is that you can only worship one God. You are either worshiping the God in heaven or worshiping idols. If you are worshiping idols the real God will turn away as you do this. It is in the Ten Commandments not to worship idols and the catholics do that very thing. They are so deceived.
I have renounced the catholic religion for this reason and became a born again Bible believing Christian.
Here is a website that might interest you some more about the worship to mary in the catholic religion.

EDIT: There is not one single verse in the Bible that says that Mary was without sin after the birth of Jesus, nor does it say that she rose from the dead like Jesus did. In fact after the birth of Jesus it does not mention too much about Mary at all. Mary also had other children and did have sins, just like the rest of us, in fact she had to ask Jesus to forgive her sins. We are not told anywhere in the Bible to pray to her or anyone else. Jesus is the ONLY way. John 14:6 tells it like it is.
Also the angel came to Mary and to tell her that she was chosen to carry Jesus and give birth to Him. She does not tell her that she is going to be like Jesus and be praised like Him. We know who Mary is, but we are not to pray to her or anyone except God, through Jesus Christ.

No.
(Christians only consider God worthy of worship. Catholic Christians (and some Protestants) consider Mary to be the greatest of all the saints, and many Catholic Christians revere and honor saints, but reverence and honor are not the same thing as worship.)

No, we do not worship Mary.
We honor Mary as the Mother of God. She was special and chosen to be his mother. It is her flesh that gave Christ his humanity.
We only worship God. Only God is deserving of worship. The Church is, and always has been, adamant about this.
We pray to Mary and ask her to pray for us. We believe that her petitions to Christ are special because she is his mother. On the cross Jesus gave John his mother and by that, he gave his mother to all of us. She is our spiritual mother.
A mother is special. You can go to her for anything, she loves you and will do anything to help you. That's what Mary does for us.
She does not (and never could) compete with Jesus. As his mother she glorifies him. She said "my soul magnifies the Lord." Think about that, she magnifies him...she's not struggling with him for top position. Most mother's are happy to stand in the shadows and let their children have all the attention...they don't clamor for top billing.
At the same time Jesus followed the commandments...honor your father and your mother. Mary is due that honor by the very fact that she is his mother.
We worship the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit as one God. Only that one God is deserving of worship...and believe me, we Catholics know that difference.

No, Catholics do not worship Mary.
They honor her.
Catholic teaching is that God alone is to be worshipped.

yes they do. they have an idol of Mary in there churches. and pray to her. don't they say hail Mary all the time. Mary is Jesus Christ mother, not God's mother. God does not have a mother. Jesus is the son of Jehovah God. not God
