Absolutely! Don't let their size fool you. They don't require much room if you take them for a nice walk. They are calm, low energy dogs.

A male dane will as a rule get 36-38" high at the shoulder, chances are he's mixed with anything a bit smaller. If hubby is a chippie, he should believe about the best way to satisfactory use the lumber he's received to make the biggest canine condo (ie- if he is getting 8' 2x4's, then might be the condominium will likely be 48" excessive so he can just cut them in half). I would make it as a minimum forty two" long too. Pleasant shingle roof, and a gigantic giant poofy bed for inside of (danes joints are touchy, so you need to offer him a excellent bed whereever that you may). I might made your doggie apartment door as a minimum 36" high, I do not know in regards to the partition, could make it complicated for him to show round even as inside (they're long too). How a few fine door flap instead? Like a rubber ground mat for a truck, but somewhat larger. In order to hold the climate out, but let him nose it apart when he wishes to go in or out.

Great Danes are not recommended for apartments. Small houses are acceptable if you have a large yard. These dogs in particular need space to roam because they get to be 130+ lbs. They need an average amount of exercise, but due to their size they need a lot of space. As large dogs age, they are prone to arthritis, especially if they do not get enough exercise. This may potentially become an expensive problem in the future. You will also find your Great Dane getting bored and possibly destructive around the house. Good luck with your decision.

Do you honestly think that a huge dog would do good in a small apartment. While in his puppy stage I'm sure he could do some hefty damage to your house when he is just playing. I would not get a Great Dane until you have an adequate size home.

Oddly enough Danes can do fairly well in a small place. As long as he doesn't have to depend on the small area to get his daily exercise.. He's likely to be fine.. You have to make sure he gets plenty of walks and running time in, but when you are at home, he should be fine.

I certainly think an adult Dane would make a good small house or apartment dog. really once they reach maturity, most are not overenergetic -- you would need to plan for walks and clean up after them, but they should be content.
Good Luck!

It's probably not the best living conditions for a very big dog but great danes are known for being big couch potatos. As long as you take him out on frequent walks and he gets enough excersice he should be fine. Good Luck

Danes do very well in small condo's and apartments. My sister had one with her in her small house and she was just fine. You will need to get them plenty of exercises and walks but once she was home she took over the couch! She was a very sweet girl.

Actually, they ARE good dogs for small areas. Danes are so huge, that if they over-exert themselves they are likely to have a heart attack. They do need to be taken out for daily walks, but they are extremely docile.
Almost better than the lhasa apso that runs sofa circles all day long, huh?
