I dreamed I was at the house I grew up in. There's a little storage place under the stairs, and I was putting things in there on a shelf. One of the things I put in there was a plastic container that looked like it was a salad dressing container, but inside was dried herbs & spices like dehydrated onions & stuff, but then I looked and saw bits of cheese in there too. The cheese of course can't be preserved, it will mold, so I was wondering how it got in there and why it was there. I know this is weird but I know this means something!! In the dream I was thinking, should I get the cheese out? Will the onions & stuff be ruined or can they still be preserved? The cheese was little pieces of white american cheese, the kind that comes in wrapped slices. I know it all has to do with some things being preserved/saved, and other things can't/shouldn't be saved, and one thing pollutes another? Old unresolved issues??

You went to your childhood house because certain aspects of your childhood have not been properly integrated into your memory and your adult personality.

There are still some childhood issues you are trying to resolve. You need to put those experiences where they belong. Save what was good and what is useful for you to have learned and disregard the bad stuff. The stuff that just spoils things for you and hurts you.

You are trying to take care of your emotional needs. However, there are things from the past that you have ignored. Maybe they are no longer of any use and you must face them and then send them away, keep them from spoiling what was good, or at least helpful.

You may have bad habits now that come from the past –break away from those old habits, explore new things.

Weird dreams and dreams that look extremely real are real puzzles to me some times such dreams are like warnings or signs of some sorts or they don't mean much just mess with your head (and mine).

I think that the container is our world or a community (may be yours) , the herbs and spices may be the inhabitants who live there and stay preserved in this community and the cheese may represent the people who can't survive in there and would cause death or infection to the inhabitants and you think if you should or shouldn't remove them.

The cheese may also be a timed bio bomb or some thing "anthrax for example"

Hope this helps.

The house you grew up represents your life as a child,
the storage place is good ro bad memories you have collected throughout the years.

you started to forget some of the good or bad things that happened to you, you started to grow out of problems you had and maybe you are resolving very old issues.
You feel that you may miss these bad or good things , that even that you are growing , resolving things and evolving you think that some bits of it may be things you still want to save.
its like the feeling you have before throwing a way an old comfi shoe, its old and dirti but you loved it.

so what do you think?

Sounds as if something similar is going on in your life.
You know how something is supposed to go but someone added something new to it that you don't know what to do about.
Perhaps there's someone new in your life (not necessarily a romantic involvement, but perhaps this is in the family since your old house was involved) and you're not sure how this person fits in right now or you are worried that this could cause problems (like you were worried about the mold.)

According to the activation-synthesis theory of dreams, the dream probably has no meaning at all. (Sorry, that may not be what you wanted to hear.)

Although dreams are influenced by our thoughts throughout the course of the day, this does not mean they are special messages to us that we should carefully consider.

Here's one perspective:

"Activation Synthesis Theory is a neurobiological theory of dreams, put forward by James Allan Hobson and Robert McCarley in 1977, which states that dreams are a random event caused by firing of neurons in the brain. This random firing sends signals to the body's motor systems, but because of a paralysis that occurs during REM sleep, the brain is faced with a paradox. It synthesizes a narrative by drawing on memory systems in an attempt to make sense of what it has experienced."

It means that you probabely like salad!(smiles!) and you probabely miss your old home. Plus, even though I just told you, you can't really put a meaning into your dreams. it isn't real. for example, I had a dream that I fell in lovewith spiderman and I hate spiderman. He is ugly to me! but in my dream I loved him with all my heart and someone told me that my dream ment I will someday like him? Like that would ever happen! so just enjoy your dreams and laugh about them and hang on girlfriend!
