Im 15 and ill be getting my liciens soon... my dad has taken me to look at a couple car lots and i just dont know what i want... Im pretty spoiled so i can get pretty much whatever i want, but it cant be a 2007 model... must be used. Im thinking more of a sports car ( anything 2 door) but I wouldnt mind having a small SUV either... I think they are kind of cute. Im a very small girly girl so noone thinks i would look right driving a hummer or the jeep i wanted. My dad ask me to give him some ideas... what do you think?

Actually a Hummer will be good because it's safe (for you, not for the rest of us, when you are on the road.)
And a small girl looks cute in a large car.
On a serious note, forget about cute sports cars, get something safe for now.

I know this is boring but get something that is safe and has done well in crash tests and gets good gas mileage. Get a copy of Consumer Reports auto edition - it came out last month - or get an online subscription and go car shopping from there. It will tell you what the best used cars are.

Sports cars usually take premium gas, get bad fuel economy and cost more to insure - and you are going to be expensive to insure until you are older and a more experienced driver. They also cost more to maintain.

A small SUV that has done well in crash and rollover testing might be better. A Toyota RAV 4 or Highlander will get better gas mileage and takes regular and will cost less to insure.

Jeeps have terrible reliability ratings - they break down all the time. And a Hummer is a large hard to handle car with bad fuel economy and bad reliability too.

Don't be so spoiled and start to think about how much the car will cost to buy and to keep. And remember you are beginning driver so an easy to drive, safe car makes sense too.

Look for a small compact car. You won't need lots of space. It will be easier for you to handle. You should be able to find a used Honda Civic coupe at varying price levels. Consider shopping at www.leasetrader.com. Since you don't have lots of experience, you can consider taking over a lease for about one year to find out if you like a particular car.
