It's religion. It doesn't have to make sense. As long as it gives some pat answers, some emotional tugs of heart, and doesn't require much thought, that's good enough for the believers.
Rationality was never really part of the equation.

Actually they did not have knowledge of good and evil until they disobeyed God in the Garden of Eden. It was at that poin thtta they realizedto go against God's law was considered "rong" or :evil." They initially thought their free will meant they could do anything they wanted and that there was no "right or wrong." Only afetr Eve had the forbidden fruit did it "dawn" on them "we did something wrong..." Before that,it was possible to have free willand be unaware of good and evil.

There was no need for them to know, because good and evil did not exist at that point in time.
They did not know of it, until they ate of the fruit, from the tree of knowledge.
And yes they did have free will to do as they wanted. because. there was no need to question the differance between the 2.
SIn was not found in man, till after the fact
But it was Eve who took it upon herself, to disobey Adam's instructions.

Knowing good v. evil and having the ability to choose is not the same thing. That is why God gave them something to choose about. In the garden, they were in a state of innocence. Choosing whether or not to eat of the forbidden fruit was the first choice for the between right and wrong. They knew that God had forbidden them to partake but were tempted by Lucifer to eat anyway because he convinced them that God hadn't told them the whole truth. They took the bait and found out what the consequences were for disobedience. They now had been exposed to good and evil and from thenceforth they were no longer innocent and became aware of good v. evil in their subsequent choices.

they knew right from wrong, they chose to do wrong, thus rebelling against God's rulership & remember they were perfect people, they were accountable see what the Woman told the snake, (perhaps the snake was eating the fruit & seeing that he could talk, put doubts in her mind)
(Genesis 3:1-5) 3 Now the serpent proved to be the most cautious of all the wild beasts of the field that Jehovah God had made. So it began to say to the woman: “Is it really so that God said YOU must not eat from every tree of the garden?” 2 At this the woman said to the serpent: “Of the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat. 3 But as for [eating] of the fruit of the tree that is in the middle of the garden, God has said, ‘YOU must not eat from it, no, YOU must not touch it that YOU do not die.’” 4 At this the serpent said to the woman: “YOU positively will not die. 5 For God knows that in the very day of YOUR eating from it YOUR eyes are bound to be opened and YOU are bound to be like God, KNOWING good and bad.”
(1 Timothy 2:13-14) . . .For Adam was formed first, then Eve. 14 Also, Adam was not deceived, but the woman was thoroughly deceived and came to be in transgression. . .

There was basically only one rule: Don't touch that tree. That's it. And think about it: what else would there have been to sin about? It wasn't like one of them had more stuff than the other; what was there to be jealous of? The stuff a couple fights over today- they pretty much had none of it! They had no money to fight over, they didn't have jobs, they didn't have kids (and if they would have had kids, they still wouldn't have had in-laws or preconceived notions about child rearing), they were in perfect health, and everything was provided for them. Most of all, they had an intimate personal relationship with God that we can not even imagine. They had one little rule to observe. And in their free will, they blew it.

Adam and Eve had free-will and there was only one rule, just one, "Do not eat of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil." Of any other tree they could eat freely. They were completely innocent and stood clean before God until Adam, (not Eve, she was deceived) exercised that free-will choice. He willingly disobeyed (sinned) and received the curse. This example is the type and foreshadow of what happens if we willingly choose to reject Christ. There is one rule to receive salvation, just one, accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and savior. Like Adam, if we choose not to follow that one rule, we receive the curse of eternal punishment and separation from God. We can only stand clean before Him if washed by Christ's blood, sacrificed on the cross.

This knowledge belonged to God and the tree was used to symbol that all belonged to God, this is why the devil tempted Eve saying, "You shall not die for God knows that in the day that you eat thereof you shall be like God knowing both Good and evil. Eve was already like God for He created her after his likeness and after his very image and the devil? He was only a fallen archangel not even in the same class as the human race which he was able to defile and doom until God sent Christ which crushed the head of the devil and stripped him of his power over mankind but he is still able to deceive and this is how he is able to take people with him to hell. Don't be deceived...

According to the Bible the only thing they knew to be wrong was to disobey God. After they disobeyed God they were changed and had the personal and experiential knowledge of actual good and evil. They only had free will to choose within the parameters of their knowledge and beliefs.

A young child lacks the imagination to understand the concept of morality, and a toddler doesn't have the imagination to think about stealing, killing or torture, but he obviously has a will. If you think otherwise, then you haven't spent time with toddlers.
This can't be a serious question, since the answer seems so obvious. You must be a troll.

They were told before hand that they were not to eat of the tree or that they would surely die. A baby does not understand why it cannot stay up late all the time but nonetheless it still must follow the rules.
