John, Your probabilities of going to Iraq or Afghanistan (or any destiny conflict zone for the time of your enlistment) do not count on your educational background yet on your fee (same element as an MOS). for sure, particular MOS are greater attempt against-oriented: SEALS as against radio techs, as an occasion. That being stated, with the present troop ranges in Iraq and Afghanistan, your probabilities of going to the Mid East are below, say, a Soldier's or Marine's, yet nevertheless exist. do not enlist except you're comfortable with this. At any fee you will land up going out to sea for long classes of time - commonly 5-7 months - for the time of which you will have somewhat constrained touch with buddies and family members. perfect needs!

Honestly it all depends. First off on how much longer the US stays in the Middle East. Another thing depends on what troop you are in. Some of my friends here in TX only went to Kuate (sp?). Others have gone to Afghanistan, others Iraq, and some even went to Western Europe to stay stationed nearby. My Uncle Joe went to Kuate and then to Iraq then to Afghanistan in his second year in the Marine reserves. Came home a year after and didn't have to go back. His friend, Ray, stayed stationed in California and never even left the US. It all just depends on what the situation is and how the military wants to handle it.

No matter what anyone tells you, the chances of that will never be 100%. But they're pretty good, since the Marine Corps covers the largest province in Iraq.

Well, the President has said that this war will go on for "generations." I'd say that your chances of going to Iraq or Afghanistan are very high, depending on your specialization.

No one can actually answer this question for you. When the boss (the President) says you gotta go, then you go. It's that simple.

I have gotta say though, that I know many airmen (air-force) within the past 2 years and still to date, they have not been called or their has been any rumors about it.

It's all depending also on what job you would be performing. If it's needed then you are more at risk, if it isn't needed then you are not.

Either way, it shouldn't stop your dreams or goals.

Good Luck.............

100% guaranteed. They're trying to lower their entrance standards and call back all sorts of guys. That shows how desperate they are. They even called back this one guy I know who almost joined but then didn't sign the contract.

You join, you go. And don't believe what the recruiters will say about safe assignments or bonuses. This stuff is totally beyond their control when you sign that contract. It's their job to get people in and they'll say whatever it takes.
