I think that some forms of Hinduism and certain types of Buddhism believe in a hierarchy of gods.
Some believe that Brahman (the greater Self or Supreme Spirit) is the universal life force that everything else in the universe, including the gods, is made of.
-------------------------------------------
...According to the monistic/panentheistic theologies of Hinduism, Brahman (the greater Self or God) is in the highest sense One and nondifferentiated from the world and its beings (hence 'nondualist'). In connoting Brahman's absolutely unparalleled nature, it is also called Parambrahman, where the Sanskrit prefix param- denotes "ultimate". Brahman is also sometimes seen as synonymous with the concept of Paramatma (Supreme Spirit). Beyond time and space, both immanent and transcendent,[16][17] Brahman is often described succinctly as sacchidananda, meaning 'Truth-Consciousness-Bliss', not only possessing the qualities but also being their very essence. Advaita philosophy declares that ultimately Brahman (the impersonal God) is beyond mere intellectual description and can be understood only through direct spiritual experience, where the 'knower' and the 'known' are subsumed into the act of 'knowing'. The goal is to "wake up" and realize that one's atman, or soul, is really identical to Brahman, the uber-soul.[18][19]
On the other hand, monotheistic (for example, Dvaita Vedanta) and other devotional (bhakti) schools, understand Brahman as a Supreme Being who possesses personality. In these conceptions, Brahman is associated with Vishnu, Shiva or Shakti depending on the sect. Brahman is seen as fundamentally separate from its reliant souls (humanity) so, in achieving liberation, individual beings experience God as an independent being, a living personality, and retain their individual identities....

I'm one but I have nothing to do with religions... as I agreed with Relelation 18: 4... and the rest of the scriptures from the only book on earth claiming divine inspiration.
Psalms 83: 18; Isaiah 40:28; Matthew 4: 10; Exodus 6: 3;
Mark 12: 29; Deuteronomy 10: 17; Hebrews 12: 6.

The Greek gods came out of a titan. For the Babylonians, Tiamat the World Dragon was slain and used to make the world. In both cases the respective gods overcame there predecessors, so I don't know if this answers your question.

Pastor Yisrayl Hawkins has written a book called 'THERE IS SOMEONE OUT THERE', and in this book he addresses the existance of other beings that live in this universe. The 'gods' are merely the fallen angels that reside on this planet with satan. Ther are other beings that are not 'fallen' that have kept thier full power, what ever that power might be. Do we worship them? "NOT!!!" No matter how powerful they might be, YAHWEH IS STILL THE CREATOR OF THEM ALL!!! YAHWEH ALONE IS THE ONLY TRUE SOURCE OF POWER!!! BESIDE HIM ther is no god!!! So, yes, ther are being more poerful than the 'gods' themselves, but we do not worship them!

There are gods and there is God. Capital importance makes a difference in the Bible. To we Christians, there can be nothing higher than God. And gods refers to the angelic hosts, also called stars.
**just a note, but I thought Mr. Hawkins would have lost his entire church after he proclaimed the end of the world and it did not come. Wouldn't that tell anyone he isn't anything that he proclaims? I can't believe people still subscribe to that man's lunacy.

Technically Mormons do. It's always a deep debate, but Mormons believe that our goal should be to eventually live with God, to live with od you need to be perfect like him or become a God like person yourself. And that God himself did this, he lived a full life and achieved being a God. So this that although Mormons only worship the one and only god (the father) of this world, there are possibly many Gods with are God.
However this is insignificant. The real important thing is to life our own life the best we can. Knowledge like this won't hurt nor help getting to heaven.

If the belief of Christianity's God is genuine, God could be genuine impartial extra beneficial than an all-loving god. in the experience that your dad whom in his spare time, created drugs like E and threw them right into a crowded room of ravers, then inform you that it replaced right into a plan to work out if all and sundry could take the bait, could you label him as A) all-powerful Being of large information, or B) criminal? followers of God faith continuously says that the evils of the international are created via the devil. Who created the devil and facilitates it to wander the planet and wreck each little thing? They argue that in case you have been a parent, could you be to blame in the experience that your toddlers devote crimes. No as human mom and dad we can't, yet GOD is friggin effectual. With a snap of his eyelash, he can command a life-time to vanish. All loving? no longer even close.

Yeah. Zeus, the king of gods.. I guess at one point, his parents were more powerful than him...
OK, let me get this straight... So, I tell you Zeus was a KING OF GODS, but you want to know if there is some one higher than Zeus??? So basically, you just want to know if there is a god out there you never heard of that is higher than gods... I don't know, I would say that being KING OF GODS makes them higher than gods, but you want a god that is higher than a king of gods, because you already heard of Zeus..... It makes no sense to me.

People can and do have more power and control than god does. Apparently god has chosen this by deciding not to interfere.
