There are pharmacological and nonpharmacological ways. Basically, this means that you can take medications or try other activites. Meditation, distraction (through any activities like walking, TV, video games, or whatever you like), having someone around to help talk you through the pain helps too. I'm a pediatric nurse and we have TV's in our treatment rooms where we do blood draws and invasive things, and it has been proven to lessen the pain that the child feels. If you are experiencing chronic pain the best thing is to have a combination of medicine and non-phramacological things.

Well, there are many things to control pain...depending on where the pain is, some people swear by acupuncture, and others prefer to be medicated all the time...I think that a healthy combination of physical and maybe some medical help, is the best way...and time will heal most things, although in some cases, prayer works the best of all!
