Absolutely not!!!! It is illegal (just ask Britney Spears). Also, it's very, very dangerous. The forces involved in even a low-speed crash make it impossible to keep ahold of the child. At best, the child will get thrown about inside the car; if the car is moving at more than say, 25 mph, the child will most likely be launched from the car entirely, which alomst always results in fatal injuries for anyone, child or adult.

Furthermore, if the mother is driving the car, it will make an accident all the more likely since mom will be distracted. Regardless of what most people think, anything that interferes with driving or takes away some of the driver's attention, be it a baby on your lap, a cell phone, the radio, whatever, makes an accident more likely. This is a no-brainer; the less attention you give to what you're doing, the more likely you are to screw it up.

Please, *please* never drive or ride with an infant or child on your lap. It is not safe for either you or the child.

if u live in the u.s,it is illegal.if it is noticed,u will get a ticket-and a lecture.why take such a chance with ur childs life?if u are in an accident,ur child will slip off ur lap onto the floor or hit the dashboard.a body in motion inside a car will impact a hard surface at incredible velocity.it is a law of physics.a 40 pound child,in a collision at 35 mph, will hit the dash,or any other hard surface with 2700 pounds of pressure-do u think ur child would survive?the law was passed to prevent needless deaths!crying is hard to deal with, but dont risk ur childs life!if u have an airbag, and it deploys,it will kill ur child instantly.children under 13 years of age, must ride in the backseat of cars equipped with airbags.under a certain age/height and weight, the airbag will bash the child in the head or neck with force enough to cause serious injury or death.to say nothing of those crashes in wich the steering whell is driven into the drivers chest.if this ,hopefully not, should occur,u may die,but if the infant is in back in a car seat,it would probably survive.if its on ur lap,not a chance.be safe, not sorry!

If Britney Spears can't do it (she got razzed when paparazzi got pictures of her NOT using her car seat for baby) why should you get away with it?

It's illegal, it's dangerous, and what would you say to St. Peter if anything happens? That I did the dumb thing and I just want the baby to be quiet? Do you have ANY idea how hard the airbag hits?

Sheesh! Use some common sense!

It is absolutely illegal. I know this for a fact. My wife and three kids were in Florida on vacation. We had been on a flight for an hour, in airports for at least 3 more and then had to drive another 1.5 hours to get to my Father-in-laws house. We were about 10 minutes from the house and the baby had started crying like no ones business. I had him out of his seat for all of 30 seconds before we were pulled over by the police.

He took sympathy on us and didn't give us a fine, but he did give us a good lecture and a lesson on what could happen in an accident if the baby was out of his seat.

The lesson I learned? If you trully love your child, and I know you do, never take them out of the car seat while the vehicle is in motion. If you must take them out of the seat, pull over. The risk is not worth taking and it could spell heart break for you and the rest of your family if an accident occurs.

Hell No! I don't care how much the baby cries it is not worth risking its life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There are laws about that for a reason. I would encourage you to look into some statistics. It may help you understand how dangerous it would be if you look into the faces of the thousands of Innocent children who die in car wrecks each year. Most with in miles from their home. You may trust the driver of the car but do you trust Joe Drunk who just left the bar. I will say it again. Hell No
Plus its illegal!

This is indeed illegal and it is VERY unsafe. Let your child cry (it wont hurt her) until you can find a spot to pull over and take care of her.
My son hated the car seat and would car for entire trips or until he was so exhausted from crying that he fell asleep, but I kept him in the darn thing to save his life in case there was an accident.
That was 16 years ago. Now there are very tough laws about babies having to be in the seats.

Absolutely not.. Baby's cry.. it's what they're best at! Try giving him/her a pacifier or their bottle. Keep them distracted by making funny faces and crazy noises but never take them out of the car seat in a moving vehicle, it's the most dangerous thing you could do. You never want to put your baby at risk.

That's very dangerous they're there to protect the child, wouldn't it be better for them to be safe and have them cry a little? I don't know if that's illegal but it's definetly not safe.
