1) IE7 is extremely flaky.
2) FireFox is stable
3) FireFox has the features that MS is trying to catch up with.
4) FireFox is faster.
5) FireFox is more secure.
6) IE7 is the default option of corporate IT departments covering their back sides.

It's your decision?

Firefox is definitely better that IE7 as it's advantages are listed above. Moreover, the extensions provide the specific functionality you require.
So it's fast, safe, extendible.
It's only drawback is that, some MS friendly sites don't support any browser other than IE.

IE6 was extremely pathetic, now with IE7, things have improved a little. But it is still prone to adwares, trojans, etc

It all comes down to preference, and the ways in which you use the Browser. Generally, Firefox is more widely recognized as being industry leading, and has a number of good plug-ins, but others argue that IE7 has better integration with Windows. There's no compelling reason not to use both and make a personal choice.

Firefox is preferable, as it has a longer service history, has proven itself over a long period of time, and is also the prefered browser for web developers. Furthermore IE7 has been built anew from the ground up, and is still in it's infancy experiencing many diversified bugs.

Let me put it this way... MSIE 7 is MSIE 6 with a Firefox front-end. What does that tell you?
I wrote a paper on Ajax (a Javascript technique used to import files into an HTML page) about 6 months ago. In comparing browsers I ran a test on the w3c.org website to determine compatibility with the web standards. MSIE 6 came up just under 70% compatible. (Firefox was 90%). Running the same test with MSIE 7 had exactly the same results as MSIE 6.

I would say Firefox, its fast safe and secure. IE7 is great but it is really vurnuable to spyware and sometimes it shows you unexpected behaviour.
Both have the same features but firefox is just faster in loading contents like flash or java scripts.

saying 'firefox is better' has become a norm, a fashion statement of sorts. ppl have stopped being objective. i have been using IE for many many years and have had no problems till date. IE7 is pretty neat.

maybe firefox is better in certain ways, technically speaking, but as a standard user i face no issues at all with IE. moreover, biased and loud opinions in favour of firefox somehow make me feel like revolting against this 'mob' opinion.

Firefox...its faster than IE7

IE is more user friendly and compatible with more sites but the built in security (virus blockers, spyware, etc) in Firefox are much better. I use both. If I am just surfing the net I use IE but when I want to buy anything or mess with my online banking I use Firefox.
