I am interested particularly in Non - Hispanic Americans who speak Spanish (or at least enough to 'get by').

Is America becoming a bilingual country, now..is is possible to get by with just Spanish? Are non hispanic Americans accomodating to Spanish speakers..

I'm interested in both answers from personal experiance / opinion and also official statistics (if they exist)

eeh - I dunno, but I'm fully bilingual and i'm a white guy from louisiana. :)

**whoever thumbs-downed me can lick my ballz because she said she wanted the answer as well as personal comments, too!*

I also think that everyone else here is retarded because she isn't asking about how many hispanics or spanish speakers there are; she said she was interested in non-hispanic americans speaking spanish....... and i am a perfect example! AND - I only know about three people that speak as well as I do and I know tons of people in new york city, new orleans, houston, dallas, los angeles and miami (I travel a lot)...... so i'm guessing not too many as of yet.

English is my first language and I am not Hispanic. I am actively learning Spanish. I've been studying it for the past two years and I know enough to have a basic conversation, though my grammar would be no where near perfect. I know about twenty conjugated forms of each verb. So I am on my way to knowing it.
