I recently started experiencing extended periods of really crappy depression after a good night of binge drinking. A Dr. buddy of mine who has a background in addiction medicine said that it has to do with serotonin levels in the blood. Apparently the mechanism of drinking-induced depression has to do with decreased serotonin levels brought on by too much drink..

Alcohol IS a depressant, you know.

Plus, you wake up with a case of the "oh-no's" as in, "oh-no! Did that really happen?".

When you don't drink so much, this goes away.
